    Roof not opening

This might have solved my recent problem!
Having suffered from the dreaded water in the boot all winter, I took out all the carpets etc and dried them out. Have not put them back for fear of yet MORE rain and continued suffering.
First sunny day yesterday and decided to put the roof down.
No go! Couldn't understand why? The red roof light flashes, but nothing works. Worried that it may be the electrics in the boot effected by the water, I scoured this forum.
I think it may be because I've removed all the carpets etc from the boot.
    Am I right?
    Anyone else experienced this?

I wouldn't have thought that not having the carpets in the boot would stop the roof from operating. Search this forum I'm sure I've read somebody else asking about the same problem and it was their roof ECU.
You didn't remove the blind with the carpets, did you?:)

If you took the central divider out of the boot at the same time as the carpets your roof won't open. There is a micro switch that needs to be made when the divider is in position.

I think that's the problem. I removed everything from the boot including the stiff divider thingy. Tomorrow, going to replace it all (weather permitting!) and try the roof again.
Still need to solve the leak problem which we all seem to be suffering.
Only this last 12 months has it become a problem. Maybe it effects cars over a certain age??

It seems the common causes for water in the boot are:
Failed seal on the centre brake light.
    Or
Miss alignment of boot/boot hinge mechanism. Resulting in a leak past the boot seal to the back edge of the roof.
