Just some updates on my communications with the boss kit seller (RHDJapan). Even after several emails detailing the products that I have purchased and the problems that I am facing, yet they are still asking for more information. The link below shows the exact item that I have purchased (product no. 709S) http://www.rhdjapan.com/works-bell-short-boss-kit-for-rapfix-daihatsu.html The website clearly shows 12 holes on the boss hub. I presume 6 holes are meant for steering wheels with Momo bolt pattern and the other 6 holes are meant for Nardi bolt pattern. The product that I have received only has 6 holes and they are just not aligned with my Nardi steering wheel. So far, they have yet to respond satisfactorily to me and it is absolutely disappointing to say the least.
I don't think the 12 holes are as you say. Because the photo you posted the other day looks like the holes on the steering wheel are on a larger circle. The 12 hole boss appears to have them all on the same circle. But it may be bigger and fit. keep us informed
sorry Joeleow, it's a Momo wheel that was a Daihatsu Copen option from the dealer/factory, so doesn't need a boss kit as it is a direct fit. They offered Black/red ones also in some countries. cheers grunt
That is always a possibility. However, if I look at some adapters on the web that allows a Nardi wheel to be fitted onto a Momo bolt pattern, the circle formed by the holes are very close to each other. Now RHDJapan says his product needs to be used in conjunction with a Rapfix quick release, whatever that is! :-((
I guess its an attachment that allows the steering wheel to be quickly removed. A bit like how formula one drivers do to get out the cockpit. DaG has something similar, but that's because of his rotund midriff.
The boss definitely has a different PCD to the wheel so the twelve holer wouldn't have fitted either. Could you not align the hole in the steering wheel with the hole in the boss, maybe get turned down a piece of wood with the two diameters on each end. Use that to align the two then mark the wheel bolt holes onto the boss. Centre punch and carefully drill holes into the boss which you could then tap to the appropriate thread? That's what I'd do, half an hours work and the problem is solved. I'll ignore trustafox's remarks about my six pack washboard stomach. It's nothing but jealousy. Just has another look at the picture and with the hole PCD on the wheel being bigger the holes might have to be drilled too close to the edge of the boss. So drilling and tapping might not be a good idea.
Thats why I didn't suggest that idea! doh. I thought about it like a gazillion years ago. Keep up with it octogenarian
Thanks for the suggestions but I think it is way too much effort for me. Anyway, I don't have a workshop with such equipments to start with.
New stuff arrived for fitting today! These bumper protector guards are still in the pre-chrome condition. All four are different and cannot be interchanged as they are meant to fit neatly onto the curvature of the front & back bumpers.
Here's how it would look like when fitted up. The guards would be screwed onto the bumper protector and silicon would be applied for added measure.
Some lights from ebay arrived at the same time too. The amber and white lights would go onto the rear bumper. Looking forward to some major modding. Leaving the car in the workshop for a full week. Gonna miss it! :-(-(-((
More progress. Getting the right curves. Creating an indent for the signal and reverse lights so that they face directly backwards. The positions are diagonally aligned with the tail lights. Hope it will turn out well.
