Sometime back I replaced the stock speakers with my old Morel Dotech Ovation 6. And I was left with a set of black speaker grille that were not used.

I brought them to a chrome plating workshop and it came back real shiny!

The audio workshop will put them to good use. :)

Black PVC with the same grain as stock was chosen so that the custom pod can blend in. Shoe marks would not be so obvious too! :)

I hope my passengers know where not to put their foot!

Matching the chrome grille with shiny chrome nuts.

The position of the speakers has been adjusted so that it is vertical unlike the stock position.

I think the side doors look much cooler now... and I get clearer audio perhaps?

Anyway, it is time to see the cones go pumping! :D:D:D

very nice - upgrading the speakers was one of the first things I did but mine are still hidden behind the regular door card.

Thanks dsb! For us music lovers, that's what we always do first to the car. :)
Unfortunately, the Copen door card is very plain looking (to me at least) and I wouldn't allow it to stay that way for long. :)

I am going to have to hide this thread from my husband now :D he changed the speakers straight away but they, too, are still behind the door card.

It has been awhile since I have done anything to my Copen. So I brought the little one down to the audio shop to remove some parts for chroming. :)

First step, taking out the aircon control knobs. That's the only easy part.

Next up are the wipers and the 3 air vents near it. We took out all the nuts but still couldn't find a way to remove the air vents. So the only was to remove the bonnet first. :(

I will be driving like this for a few days, so better cover it up in case leaves get in.

Up next are the aircon vents. They probably took the guys almost half an hour to remove all 4 of them. A couple of clips broke off and needed to be glued back. :(

Now they are all ready for collection by the chroming shop. Hope they do a good job for me! :D

How did they remove your air vents?

They went in from the back. It was very tedious!

I think you need to do something to the silver panel on the handle on the inside of the door. Your car is red, chrome and cream but you have those silver bits that stand out as looking odd now. Any plans or ideas for them? Can you have them chromed?

Yeah, the workshop suggested that as well but I am holding back on that for awhile. The interior door handles are really small to get a proper grip, even for someone like me with small hands. So l am exploring to mod that area into a bigger handle.

Other than chrome, I also have a wooden handbrake level. So I am still looking to add a couple of wooden parts to my interior, like the steering wheel, the door handle, and other stuff. Hope everything will not be too out of place when it is completed. :)

While the wait for the chroming continues... I left the car at my usual workshop for more drastic mods. :D

Part of a BMW 5 series was used to make this center guard (or whatever you call it).

The signal lights were shifted to a new location, which is in the center of this vent.
