Do they work any better than the factory fitted guides? They must do! The bog standard ones are winding me up a treat now so I've got to replace them some how. I might just order these out of convenience but the tight git in me says I should find a Blacksmith first for a quote. Are they a polished metal? Do you have photos anywhere of them in your car?
The ones I made were a bit fiddly to assemble and I wasn't happy with the bolt angle as it went into the seat, so I didn't make anymore. I'll see if if I can come up with something a bit simpler and I'll write a programme to get the bits laser cut out. If assembly is simple then I could knock out 10 /20sets and see if anybody wants them. They don't really improve the belt retraction, they do stop the belt from leaving the guide though. I sit right back with the seat reclined and that is the reason the belt doesn't retract very well . I've no interest in making money from these things so if I can make any more I'll do them for the postage and a charity donation.
Nice one DaG. You can put me down for a set as the seat belts just doubling over all the time in the factory fitted guides just wind me up. Plus what ever you come up with will be a 100 times more aesthetically pleasing than the black moulded plastic guides.
The bracketeer is the daddy, these are the dog's tonsils! Will they be engraved with the designer's signature and individually numbered?
the chrom design ones are better than the originals, the belt bit is more open so they dont snag. but aesthetically they are nothing special; a loop welded to a plate then chrome plated. I will replace then with DaG Designs Beltglides(c) if/when they are available
My Japanese friend recommended the Japanese Yahoo auctions site. The link below is a search for "Copen seat belt guides". http://auctions.search.yahoo.co.jp/...=&aq=-1&oq=&ei=UTF-8&slider=0&tab_ex=commerce Beware, this site has a lot of poisons! Use Google Translate to search for Copen stuff. The guide shown earlier should be from this k-takeoff brand. http://www.k-takeoff.com/ Enjoy!
Have you made any progress in making a new version yet DaG? They'll make a nice Christmas present for me to give someone
I've made a MK3 but I'm not happy with it. I made a backing plate the same footprint as the original plastic so the indentations in the seat leather are covered. What I mean is when you remove the plastic guide there are indentations and marks left that my first guides didn't cover. The loop for the belt to pass through is causing me the most grief, I just can't get it easy to make or fix to the backing plate. My first guides also raised the height of the belt which is fine for me as I'm six feet tall. When my mrs drives the Copen, she's 5' 4" small, it's a bit too high for her and puts the belt near her neck. So I also want anything I make to keep the belt as close as possible in its original place. Another problem i have is time. I work in R&D making one offs and prototypes from sheet metal and im very busy right now. I'm currently working seven days a week just to keep up with my schedule and just can't find any time to work on this. I don't think I'll get anything finished this year, sorry.
Gutted but thanks for the update. I appreciate that time is in short supply these days & it seems to be all work now too. Roll on my summer holiday & some day light would be nice too!
I don't know what DaG is talking about when he says working 7 days a week He retired in his 30s when he sold his mobile male lingerie business
You should know I had to make you redundant as a model. I hear you are doing ok these days though, modelling female lingerie.
I just bought a pair of the Germany Chrome Design guides.. see: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141588214485?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIThttp:// £50 GBP, arrived in a week, fitted easily and supplied with new hex bolts. Much improved over the plastic ones..
