I think you told us most of this in another reply quite recently didn't you? You bored us enough that time and you go and repeat it! :(

Wheels look good number 6. I'll get some popcorn in before I watch your new you tube vid :). I saw the pics on FB and thought it wouldn't be long before they appeared here.

Wait until you see the "How to install a BoV" video I'm working on - a clip is already on Facebook... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=540324919987

I've just this minute seen the FB clip. "oh yeaahhh hehehehe"

What does it sound like as standard as I've never heard the turbo. Can you hear the BOV, is it just quiet and mild?

I've never mentioned it on here before I think you're getting confused.
The reason I did mention it is that from experience I know what happens to alloy wheels when you prepare then and paint them yourself with aerosols. I reckon if I'd washed mine more often maybe just a blast over with a hose to keep brake dust down they would have lasted longer. The dust mixed with salt and water is very corrosive.
It was just helpful advice from someone ŵho has been there before. If it's boring then don't read it.

Thankfully, we don't salt the roads as much as the UK. Last time we properly salted the roads was 2010.

Replaced the stock blow off valve with a Pusshan RSS.

Did the passenger's back wheel today - calliper paint on the drums, and plasti on the wheels. Video is currently transcoding.

    My knees are in bits!

Debadged the rear. Used dental floss and WD40 - no need for a hair dryer, but I'd say it makes life easier.

Debadged the front, and gave her a polish.

I also swapped out the sparks with Iridium NGKs (were Bosch, from previous owner), and it was unknown when they were put in - the old plugs didn't look too bad.

Whilst she was on the ramp, I inspected the exhaust I paid €420 for in November. As you can see, surface rust has already started on the back box - which should not happen, as Ireland does not salt the road. This box appears to be mild steel and not stainless, as agreed with with the exhaust guy.

The (chrome?) tips are also starting to degrade.

I will be having a rather long shouting match with the exhaust guy, and will name and shame him if I get the cold shoulder.

The rear of the exhaust looks like it's SS you can tell by the welds. Just a very low grade of SS which does corrode. The worst corrosion is where the hanging brackets are welded on and that's because the brackets aren't SS. However the box with rust on it certainly isn't SS.
The boxes are normally made from galvanised steel and are welded in the manufacturers factory to standard bought in pipes which they bend to shape.
The heavy weld where the pipe joins the box is very rusty and this is where the exhaust will eventually split. A good quality exhaust would be galvanised after being welded which yours hasn't been. A lot of exhausts these days are made that way because of cost
Exhausts normally rot from the inside out because of condensation and water build up inside. The fact yours has surface rust on the outside shows that the galvanised plating is very, very thin, to the point of non existence.
If you have paid for a SS exhaust I'd take the car back and complain. For a November fitted exhaust it is in poor condition, looks at least a couple of years old.

Yeah, doesn't it just. The fact that the Copen's oil change is every 6 months means they can't say it's a year's worth of rust. The exhaust was "made" and fitted on the 3th of December 2013, so under 200 days! The only reason I went with him was because, as they say on their website, "we use Stainless Steel Components"

The exhaust place is a bit of a drive away, so I have emailed him the photos and if I don't get a call by end of business on Monday, I will call him myself.

I shall be dropping the car back to the exhaust place (an hours drive away) on Saturday, instead of going to my parents for a well overdue visit.

I will accept nothing but a full, SS, replacement. Possibly a new O2 sensor installed, for wasting my time.

You can test for stainless steel with a magnet.
Good grade SS like 304 or 316 a magnet won't stick at all to it. Lower grades which are usually used in exhausts a magnet will stick but not with the attraction of mild steel.
So if a magnet sticks really well to the various parts of your exhaust they are almost certainly mild steel. If the attraction is weak then the parts will be SS, just a very poor grade.

The turbo exhaust branches at a different place to the 1.3. Or is that because its hand made.
Are the twin sections made of narrower bore? they should be really as you loose power with twin exits.

The date for the exhaust replacement has been moved to Thursday. When the garage called me, he said "no where on our website do we say it's stainless steel"... Whilst on the phone, I corrected him with the link.

His rationale for NOT doing a stainless was down to "noise". Even if that was the case, the back box shouldn't be rusted considering it's only 6 months old.

We'll see what he comes back with.

Since I'm not getting the exhaust fixed over the weekend, I went to my parents house in the west of Ireland.

Installed the Copen branded net - it looks nice although it blocks access to the normal net. Also installed the clear cabin light, which makes a huge difference!

Got the exhaust replaced today, which took 4 hours - so a day off work to a craphole of a tiny village in the middle of nowhere and whose idea of coffee is instant.

This time, with proper stainless steel and magnaflow boxes

The exhaust place's website now says "And remember if requested we can use Stainless Steel Components" as opposed to "And remember we use Stainless Steel Components".
