I'd confess I only looked at recent threads to see if maps were still receiving updates. => Clearly not monthly ones but then in the process I came across lots of 'hacks' and mods on youtube/forums. Some even had the latest firmware of the most recent units Avic 9xx. Dave wasn't looking for an embedded GPS unit but I figured that it'still was a nice handy feature if it fits the price range, (as the Bluetooth, usb and smart card ports) even if it can't beat a Garmin/Tomtom unit regarding updates (on par with most of those built-in car gps I'm told). Anyway, if it's of any interest, I'll report back after playing more extensively with the unit as soon as we get the car it comes with (Friday). Regards.
