Came with the car but the Mrs replaced them with identical ones after a hand wash place jet washed them & bits came off. She bought the replacements from a bargain discount shop called Buyology. Don't think there's many of them around but most discount shops sell the same stuff. Also seen the mats on ebay.
Can't remember the brand or recall hearing of them before. The last owner had just bought them new. Will check the tyre brand next time there's daylight. Edit: They're Nankang Ultra Sport II
Thanks! (why is there no thanks button on this forum?) Pugsley Pug never looks impressed. His face is always like that!!!
I would ditch the aluminium valve caps if I was you. I had a set on a car a few years ago and they caused me a massive problem. The problem was I couldn't get them off even using pliers, molegrips, any kind off brute force. Dissimilar metals should not be mixed especially if they can be subject to water and salt which obviously tyre dust caps are. It's called an electrolytic reaction, the two metals corrode each other and can get almost welded together. I had to apply an angle grinder to the top of my caps, the grinding heated them up which expanded them and I managed to remove them. Get rid. If you really want to keep them coat the valve threads in Vaseline and remove them regularly.
Could he not wrap the thread with PTFE tape? it might tear in places but some of the touching surfaces will have a barrier. But also apply some lubricant/grease.
Ok cheers for the advice. I should be ok as I meant just the colours matched. The actual valve caps are just plastic painted with metallic finish. Although I did spend a bit of time trying to find actual aluminium caps so glad I never found any now
It's been nearly a week since my Mrs 30th birthday and it feels like a life time ago since I picked up the Copen! I've loved every moment of tinkering with it & the Mrs still says good morning with a smile to Minion Dave every day she gets behind the wheel! Little additional gifts I bought Minion Dave, err I my mean my Mrs for her birthday included the following: Windscreen Washer Chrome covers. Direct from Japan! Bling bling! Leather arm rest cover. Proper pain to fit & I wished there were detailed instruction on how to fit it as after doing it it I realised I should of started gluing it from the key hole & glued the rest of it on from the underside to avoid visible bubbly lumpy bits on top. Still it looks ok though. Leather Gaitor to replace the worn out one To help with the cabin condensation I bought these as mentioned on this forum: One for the boot & one for the cabin. Seem to be working well so far. Also got some Rain X Anti fog to help with cabin condensation & Rain X rain repellent to help the Mrs overcome missing a rear windscreen wiper. Not used either yet as ThoMar seems to work a treat inside & amazingly it hasn't rained for over a week here! And the last little gift was a bit pricey & a bit tough to swap out the needed bits but despite the price I felt I had gotten a bargain! A brand new Tonneau cover that will only get used maybe twice a year but hey the Mrs loved it (once she figured out what the heck it was!) There's a few more bits I've bought since & a couple of items I'm waiting for so hope to update soon! When I bought this car I thought that would be it & I didn't foresee all these additional optional extras taking my fancy! I blame this forum as acting like a shopping list for me!
Tis forum is definitely not good for your bank balance :-(( Dave looks great though so it must all be worth it.
my car hasn't been foggy since I got the thomar thing either - but it's one of those things where you're not sure if that's due to the item or just coincidence - could be snake oil!
Nice sales tactic dunf . While I admire your ingenuity the Mrs wasn't keen on having her chrome gear knob replaced unfortunately.
Lol. Worth a try. The No.1 ball has been reserved twice already, but the 1st time the guy changed for a different ball and the 2nd time was for a vw camper but it didn't look right and he decided on a full size 2" ball instead. I feel a bit sorry for the poor wee unwanted ball...... All the best.
Some thoughtless anonymous driver managed to leave a big scuff mark on Minion Dave's rear passenger side bumper on Wednesday . Managed to polish it out with some compound rub but could do without things like that happening to the poor little car. Got a few little bits done as well recently. Changed all the indicator bulbs to chrome ones. Amber: Chrome: Changing them wasn't as hard as anticipated & I didn't end up taking the wheels off to do it as found there was enough room & visibility. Its a subtle difference but its nice especially from the front seeing all the lights being silver without the 2 orange eye balls!
Also changed the side repeaters to the Lexus type ones as sourced by Adam K. Another subtle touch that makes a big difference to me as I love the clear Lexus ones in comparison to the factory fitted ones. Before: After: Bought a bit more chrome bling off of Sakura Car too.
Some internal upgrades include a leather handbrake gaitor & a chrome hand brake knob by Sakura Car bought off Ken on these forums (think I might of paid him over the odds for it as the next day he flew on holiday to Mexico!) Also got my long awaited sun visor covers off Top Gaitors too! A nice product especially since mine were free! I have suggested a minor alteration to the maker as the velcro does tend to rub on the cabin roof but a couple of washers fitted to drop the visors reduced the problem for me. If the problem persists I might just pick off the velcro & glue the top of the covers on or use D/S tape.
We've had our wheels refurbed! Paint was bubbling up and had started to flake off around the air valves Before: And after Really happy with the refub & service. Just wished it wasn't raining so much so I could look at them a bit more & take a few better photos. What to do next...?
Back in the Country! Could have had an Extra Weeks Holiday had I charged just that little bit more for the Handbrake Bits! Ken.
