without looking as i remember the turbo is on the driver side at the front, sure you can see it looking down but you wont be able to tell anything from looking at it.

    Hi Freebird!

I need a new turbo too!
Do you still have details of these companies?
The cheapest which I found costs £1050 all inclusive.

Have bought Copen yesterday and was driving from Birmingham to Bournemouth when the turbo stopped working. The car lost power, accelerates only up to 2500-3000 rpm and there is a cyclic sound under the bonnet. Have not noticed any smoke. My local garage say the turbo is faulty.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

    Greg,

not so sure anymore, as the seller removed all references to the Copen from the article description.

So to be sure, better ask the seller.

According to the specification brochure. The Copen does have a JB-DET engine.

If you Gogle JB-DET alot of Copen hits appear.

It looks like the same engine is used on a Move too.

Ask the seller what car it come off.

Just out of curiosity, ive done over 190,000 km in my copen already,
and the turbo has always been in the back of my mind.. i change the oil all the time - well before its due sometimes - my question is, since im no technical
or mechanical expert, can the car be drivern without the turbo???

Yes, it can be driven without a turbo, but not suprisingly performance will be very slack.

Amazing, 190.000km? First time I hear about this high kilometrage (mileage ). Good to hear that the engine and turbo can last that long with the right care and right handling.

Maybe we should start a thread with about engine type and mileage reached?

Yes, they are reliable little engines, if you look after them.
i use it a lot for country driving, on my day to day driving
    for the past 6.

    Turbocharger common problems

    Hi there!

Wanted to show you some turbocharger photos. There are two different units and both have same typical Copen turbo issues. First one, clean one is taken from a working car and the dirty one is my old dead turbo. Both units have deep cracks in turbo housing. Basically such units do not hold exhaust gases properly, so the turbine over-speeds and fails. Had such problem and replaced my turbo with a brand one. I didn't reuse the working turbo and was told this would die anyway as that is only a matter of time. The turbo specialists say this is common problem with all Copen turbos.

    Cheers!

Hi Greg, never actually heard of any "typical copen issues " with the turbo.
Is there some problem that occurs frequently with this in Copens.
Im starting to get a bit worried, as i have done just on 198,000 kms in mine, and it hasnt been any problem yet - is there any early signs it is about to go?
