Infynity - the car looks great, bravo! I like the look of the exhaust tail pipes. Do you have a complete after market exhaust system?
Thanks Soc, yes its a powerflow exhaust. I paid £420, you can pretty much design it as you like, Its supposed to sound a bit throatier than the original and offer up a few more BHP but it sounds pretty much the same to me and doesnt seem to make much of a difference to the BHP either!
Infynity, really the exhaust sounds the same? It looks so sporty. I want to replace the exhaust on mine because its sounds so quite. Don't get me wrong, I don't want a really chavy sport boomy sounds, like you a throaty sound similar to the Abarth 500 as shown below
I know what you mean, wish Id gone a bit lairier. This is what you want (the HKS one)... You can buy from Demon Tweaks in the UK but not cheap http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/perfo...mium-exhaust-system-dual-exit-102mm-tailpipes
How is your "road legality" defined in the UK? Can you use any exhaust, what criteria are there? The HKS one at 598 Euro is not expensive. If it sounds right it could be a good replacement Soc: Do you have a 1.3 or a 0.7 liter engine?
Salieri, I have the 1.3. I think I will be going to the local performance exhaust guy who will build one to measure for £400. Pro-Speed Exhausts
Company profile looks good, 400 quid is really cheap compared to the prices in germany. I did some research, apparently you have almost the same legislation as we do concerning exhaust noise:
Its good value for sure, but its not great sense to remove the standard exhaust if there is nothing wrong with it. I will wait until it fails if I can wait that long
Sounds fantastic, is the exhaust the same set up design as the original one or are there differences - location and or size/type of silencers etc. Its so tempting!
Glad you like it. The middle silencer is about the same as the original one, but the one in the back has moved to the underside of the boot and the end pipes are directly connected to it (no y-piece)
Like the exhaust set up Salieri. Similar I think to the Mini Cooper S. Is the exhaust quiet with the roof up cruising between 40 and 80 mph or does it boom and resinate throughout the cabin especially when accelerating? I remember I had a SS exhaust fitted to my Fiat Barchetta and this use to happen and give me a head ache. I want the exhaust to sound sporty but not to attract attention and to sound boy racer type
You are right, its similar to the Mini Cooper S exhaust. When the standard airbox is installed, the car keeps quiet with the roof up. Install a pod-filter and your ears will bleed. I think 100 mph is a good cruising speed and up until then it is not annoyingly loud. When the roof is down you can hear the exhaust and its quite a lot of fun. People will be looking (but they are always looking, aren't they?)
Salieri, I may ask the SS exhaust guys to build me a similar speck as yours (cooper S). Why did you go for this option and not the way the original one was set up, any particular reason?
This set up on the 500 Abarth sound good and not too loud so I may go with this set up - possibly Salieri, similar as yours?
The one from the 500 abarth looks almost exactly like mine. Sound-wise it is similar, but not the same. I had no choice about it, the people at the garage just did it that way. But I don't mind
Hi Mate would love to see how your paint job came out, it sounds like you spending a few pounds on the car but I bet it will be worth it
We are not too far from Cardiff, so when a new exhaust is required we may take a drive there to look at having a custom one made with a bit more "throat" than the original.
