Bloody weather Not had a chance to take any new photo's of her all finished, will try and take some soon if it stop's nice long enough
You have an eye for detail Trustafox, your right. Something looks a little bit odd about that aerial.
That arial will have somebody's eye out. Somebody small. Under the bonnet looks very tidy, can't see any of the usual little bits of surface rust that all cars over a few years old have. I really like that colour. White would have been my first choice for my Copen, if I'd had a choice. The minilites - I think gold would have looked good with that colour or like tuned timers car have the wheels the same colour as the car. I had an Austin Maestro a few years back that was a kind of old English white colour. I found some wheel trims in an almost identical shade and they looked great on the car. Much underrated was the Maestro, so bad it was good.
See, see, I told you! Don't worry DaG I'm sure with your platform shoes on you'll just miss it. I like the white, but after having a white mini and they look dirty 3 seconds after driving I've been loathed to have white again. Its nice to look at but less so to own unless you like washing. Had a black mini also with the same thought. I try to tell myself its just the rally car look! I can't make my mind up if I like silver wheels on a white car. But I don't agree with DaG, its better than if they were gold. But I agree with you, in that you can't beat tunedtimer's taste.
Yes your right about the aerial, not sure what happened there? i'm looking at getting a short one instead
This is the aerial I bought. A genuine Daihatsu accessory in Europe. Perfect fit. https://www.ssl-id.de/kiessetz-und-...d_86300_87881_100_Flagpole_antenna.php&v=n508
Having looked at the aerial again i decided to remove the aerial "boot". This showed the aerial itself was to low down inside the panel, so i borrowed a slide hammer from work and managed to pull/hammer the aerial assembly back to the correct position . It now looks normal...
Gents, I'm depressed. I just returned from visiting two body shops to have the rear wheel arches looked at. There was much sucking of air though the teeth and shaking of the head at both garages. The quote is £300.00 without any guarantee that the rust will not return. The guy said he had done one before and said he recommended filling with fibre glass, sanding down the fibre glass and only using filler on the remaining pin holes. Anyone know what 2 new panels might cost ? Ned
Hi Ned.....You really need the rust removed from the inner arch or the rust will keep coming back time and again.... If you have read all the pages in this thread you will see how much work went into my recent refurb. Yes it's a pain that we have to deal with this problem but if you want a good job you really have to have the rear quaters removed, remove the rust and repair, fit new panels and re-paint, anything else is a waist of time:-((
Princess, So how much did the new quarter panels set you back if you don't mind the question. Can you recommend the body shop ? Ned
Hi Ned I think the panels were £250'ish each... As for the body shop Andy's details are on page 7 of this thread #68 his name is Andy Marshall Top bloke really really friendly and did an amazing job
where abouts do you live, if you happen to live anywhere near kingston upon thames (SW London) then I can tell you there is a huge density in 1 industrial estate where you could just walk up a couple of roads and got around 10+ quotes also some proper car detailers take on this work (posh way of saying car valet) I have never used them but I know some of them do.
MOT time Well today was the day that i took the beast for it's MOT. I left it a little while to get the worst of the weather out of the way. Rolled up to the MOT station this morning not knowing if it was going to pass or fail (you never know) any way she PASSED yipppeee , Forgot what a great little car it is to drive, so now that i have this little piece of paper we will now be out and about...
