My badge was off centre and it was quite obvious, that is why I de badged mine. Although it is always good to hear men who think they know all about cars telling their girlfriends what it is and getting it completely wrong
Its easier to clean and polish without a badge in the way, especially the open type like th Daihatsu D. Fiddling around inside the letter thats a nice dirt trap. Look at it the other way around. If car makers didn't put a badge on the bonnet and some keen individual wanted to show it off and personalise so decided to put a badge on, people would then go urgghh I don't like it with a badge on.
i think its better to keep the badges on... theres no shame in a daihatsu badge remember where this make is from... Japan ! and anything from Japan is always really good also checked the car guide for most reliable makes of 2010 and daihatsu was first place and which say its a shame daihatsu has withdrawn from the uk as its cars are extremely reliable
I've always had the impression that japan tends to make cars for people who want reliability. then there's Italian cars for romantics - but they always break down no matter how expensive - or maybe the more expensive the more likely. or you have german cars for people who want a car with Japanese reliability, but they are w*****s
my tip for cleaning the inners of the D badge is to use a pressure washer like karcher for example... have one myself and it works a treat with both the D and Copen badges

Can't wait to see it. Even Andreas Copen's won't be able to beat you for best Copen at next years KKITP meet. Now if you ever think of selling it....I'd love to get first rerfusal.
Oh YES Andreas better watch out.... SHE`S BACK..... Can`t see us selling her but i will let you know if we ever do
I've been doing a bit pf rust prevention, I hope, get in there why the car is still relatively young. It might not stop it for ever but if I don't try... Well I'm throwing a new hat in the ring. Adam gave us Ditrinol. I looked at it and was on the books but I went with something different to see how it goes. They big themselves up a lot with vigorous German (or someother northern country in a far away land they call Europe) testing. Its by Bilt Hamber Labs. I've done both rear arch cavities and both sills with their cavity wax. I pushed the tip in any hole I found find and gave it a squirt. Some dripped out afterwards. I'd forgot about this bit from Adam's photo how to so rushed off the the recycle bin for some paper and cardboard. I've included a couple of photos just to prove I have! Don't worry, it wasn't as messy when I had finished as I wiped off the rogue splashes. I was not going to do a comprehensive photo how to as Adam already has and there is bugger all to show really. Next to do is remove to rear bumper and arch linings and do some more squirting with a different product that is not so running. Dynax UB. This is tougher than S50. I also have Dynax UC which is clear for places its visible.
Very good to hear! Always very happy to see owners putting in a lot of effort to keep Copens on the road. Thanks for that! Looking forward to meet in person at next years KKITP. Andreas
Rust bubbles Hi I have rust bubbles on the wheel arches. Does anyone know of a good repairer who'll do a top job. West Midlands area. What would I be looking at paying? And how long would repair last? Any information would be appreciated.
She`s home finally ... Picked up the car on Tuesday.... Whow!!! she looks brand new As i suspected my wife doesn`t like it without the badges so i`ve `just ordered some nice new shiney one`s , will get them fitted soon as they arrive. Also got to wax oil inside the new rear arches. Andy , my restorer , made a hole to the rear of the rear light`s so i can get the protection into the rear cavity area.... Will post some pics... just got to give her a nice clean, not up to my standard, and another polish and she will be all done ready for the winter
It`s been a alot of work but it had to be done!! She is a bit special... Looking forward to meeting you too.
Your rust bubbles are coming through from the back of the arch. Those tiny bubbles will be significant rust and a hole or two on the inside. Don't waste yor money getting it repaired unless the repairer is cutting out the rusted section and welding in a new piece. Rubbing down and body filling lasts only for a short time and should only be done if you want a quick fix to sell the car.
Your quite right DaG when the rear arches were removed from our car, the inner arch was full of rust and hole`s:-(( If you dont get this sorted the rust will keep coming back!!!!!!!!!:-((
Finally got the major work all finished New badges were fitted on tuesday, looks better with them than without but thanks for your thoughts. Anyway next job is the interior have been given the number for an upholsterer that Andy use's might be going to see him in the next few month's A word of caution look after your badge's as they are not cheap £120+vat for all three
