Adam, would you know if the coils are the same for both versions of the Copen?

The coils must be different. Euro car parts list the coils below for the 1.3 but they have no listing for the .7.

Coils for the 1.3 are reduced to sixty odd quid. I'm almost disappointed mine are ok.:)

Thanks DaG! I will need to source elsewhere for my coils then.

If anyone has any leads to get the coils for the 0.7 version, please share it here. Thanks!

Does anyone have the part number and photos to share? Thanks!

That lad I linked to changed all four coils but it was likely he only had one faulty. Four faulty coils and his car wouldn't run at all.
I would buy one coil and swap it for each of yours in turn, testing the car after each change. When the car runs ok you've found the faulty coil, if nothing improves then the coils are not the problem.

Thanks for the tip. Would it be possible that two coils are faulty at the same time, making it difficult to narrow down to the right ones to change?

Anyway, I am hopeless with the engine components and had never done anything more serious than changing the car tyres. Are there videos that I can follow? I will need to get the right set of tools too.

Coils usually push onto the spark plugs, very easy to change and you shouldn't need tools. I could be wrong though my car isn't a .7.
Yes two coils could go but it's all about odds on that happening. You could buy two coils to be safe and swap them in pairs. At worst you will have wasted the cost of the coil but if you plan to keep the car a for a good while then on the plus side you will have a spare coil.

I'm probably the newest member to copen world. never had any such problem with mine so i'm not in a position to share any experience. I'm from Jamaica and i had my copen since 2007. There are 3 copens here but i've never seen any of them on the road. Anyone knows where i could purchase a body kit.

Welcome franklynwilliams! I wonder how you managed to survive all these years without this forum? :D

I would suggest that you start another thread on Copens in Jamaica. We would love to see photos of your ride and Jamaica's scenery. Your query on bodykits could be addressed there too. :)

Is this problem solved? What was the solution?
I've got the same problem. With full throttle the ignitions cut sometimes, especially hill up.
Copen just died fully, but after restart she runs fine.

Before you go replacing coil packs, read this. I have been plagued by this exact problem; it got so bad at times that the engine actually stopped. Eventually I found that if I moved the large bundle of wires beside the battery, I could make the fault come and go. I suspected there could be a break in one or more of the wires in the loom, so I pushed them around until the engine was running stably, and tied them with a piece of velcro strap to the low side a/c pipe. This stabilised it for some time, but the problem would keep coming back and I would have to reposition the wires and tie again. Eventually the trouble got worse, so I decided to investigate further, and try to find the actual broken wire. So, I unwound part of the outer covering so all the wires were exposed. Then I pulled on them one at a time, thinking that if one was broken, it should stretch, or at least make the problem worse. That didn't happen. There are perhaps 50 or 60 wires in the bundle, and I pulled hard on every one. The problem just disappeared at that point. I had to abandon the idea of a broken wire in favour of a bad plug connection instead. I could follow the bundle of wires as far as the firewall, so if it indeed is a bad plug connection, it must be behind the dash, near the glove box. Hmmm... The engine ECU is around there, isn't it? I haven't gone so far as to remove it and check the plug. The problem has returned only once, and pulling on the wires, as I did before, "fixed" it again, and it has yet to come back. The connection in question I think may be associated with one or more of the coil packs. The Check Engine light has never come on since I've owned the car. Well, it's on when the ignition is on and engine stopped.

Had the car in the garage for maintenance. New spark plugs and the problem is gone till now. 1 plug was pretty bad.
