A clay bar is used before polishing it removes surface dirt from the car that just washing doesn't remove. Clay bar then polish gives a glass like finish.

I paid 5.5k for an 08 plate with 45k on the clock. That was last June and it was a good price, the dealer had reduced the price a couple of times before I bought it. I certainly wouldn't pay more than that for a similar car today.

I think you contact daihatsu for any warranty work though I haven't a clue how you do that.
I have an issue with bubbling paint on my bonnet edges which is obviously down to bad preparation of the aluminium bonnet in the factory. I'm now waiting to see if the bubbling gets any worse then I will take the car to a local body shop and just pay to get the paintwork fixed.

The three year mechanical warranty would've passed by now. However the 6 year corrosion warranty would be passed on to the next owner. Check in the service book to see if the body checks were carried out. If there are stamps you have a good case to get any rust issues repaired. Unless the position of the rust suggest an untreated stone chip. Some members have had warranty repairs for rust even if the stamps aren't in the book.

Is it these ex dealers who decide whether any work s done under warranty? My nearest is showing as over 33 miles away in Northumberland, or 55 miles away in north Yorkshire. I might email one of them and see what the score is, nothing to lose I suppose.

From what I gather they would take photo's of the problem area. Then send them to head office for work approval.
I would suggest taking photo's, give the dealers a ring & discuss it. Highlighting the distance you would need to travel. Offer to e-mail them the photos & a scan of the service warranty book.

Good idea I'll give it a try.
The strange thing is on the daihatsu site I put my postcode in and it offered me the two dealers I mentioned. When I zoomed the map in on my nearest dealer there was a flag showing a dealer at north shields which is only about 12 miles from me. I wonder why that north shields dealer wasn't shown as my nearest?

Edit: I've just had another look at the dealer list that came up from my postcode. I assumed they were in distance order but they weren't. I scrolled down the list and the north shields dealer is further down and listed as Newcastle. Ah well.
