We drove the copen from Essex to Lake Windermere last summer and stayed a couple of days. We had a brilliant time and drove on some amazing roads through the Yorkshire dales. It is definitely worth doing if you have the time.

Interesting... We are considering a few days in Yorkshire this summer.

Driving through Hull and the Humberside was beautiful too. I did a slight northern tour last year after I got married, Liverpool, Blackpool, York, Witby, Scarborough and Manchester.

weather was beautiful and driving through the dales, by the seaside all lovely - unfort we were in my husbands car and not copen

Copen is not exactly comfortable - how do you cope on the long journeys?

Strangely, Copencat, the adventure of it all seems to blank out the discomfort thing. It's a bit like the Bay Window VW Camper we owned back in the 90s - every time we got in it, maybe just to go shopping or to collect kids from school, it felt like we could just disappear off somewhere! ;) We had everything on board (food, bedding, cooker, etc.) and, yeah, it did feel like an adventure. Plus it was a majorly cool vehicle  . The Copen, tho completely different, gives the same feeling. Trips out of Cumbria, although infrequent, involve the M6 and whilst Copens may feel tiny  we're nippy enough to avoid trouble! Those quizzical looks from passers-by  in town just add to the fun!

I have found that once you get out of town the Copen is less bumpy and it is all part of the fun, it is nippy enough to avoid the lorries on motorways and fun to watch passengers in other cars looking back to see if they can work out what my (unbadged) Copen is :D

even going to the tyre place is fun - watch 6 plus men look so perplexed - then the owner deemed it was a mini TT - bit offended :D lol. Weird thing is - they have seen my car before they fixed two tyre problems I had.

when I picked up this copen, going round Bath is hilarious - so many japanese tourists - who all know roughly what it is taking pictures etc.

I do drive down to Bath - 100 miles away ish but that is as long as my journeys go. but glad to hear that the fun factor never wears off even after a few hours!

maybe i will just pack a cushion!

My son is at Bath uni, we will have to have a Copen meet and drive around in convoy, that will get the tourists and the locals going :)

both of us are grey too! with UE grill I believe, now i just need to clean my car to get it to shine like yours. Oh yeah plus get myself some door sills ... I believe I am correct?

Yes, we got the door sills when they were on ebay for about £20:) I really wanted them but justifying the amount they were to buy from Daihatsu was a bit hard. I am thinking of changing the aerial next but want a genuine part and that means a lot of money again :-((

Not really, at least the smaller aerial is supposed to be the cheapest genuine extra you can buy for your Copen:

    :)

But of course do not know the UK prices and availability from a UK Daihatsu garage.

This smaller aerial works very well for me.

It's a persons soul which defines their age, not a date on a bit paper. :)

I think the older you get, the more carefree your soul becomes, and that's what makes you try new things and want to experience more in life.
Or maybe it's just because we know time is running out !!!! ;)
