I just learnt something new from the SG Copen meet today. The guys can operate the roof while driving slowly... they simply engage the parking lever with just one click up and the roof can be operated. I gave it a try earlier and it works! Let me know if it works for you guys. Disclaimer: not sure if such an action would confuse any of the electronics though.
Mine is the opposite way. The hand brake cable tightness can be adjusted by taking out the arm rest and twiddling a nut.
One notch on the handbrake, so it's as simple as that? I kind of thought it would be linked to the car being stationary, plus the handbrake. I'll try it next time I have the roof down.
tried it but you cant go over 5-10 mph as it beeps a lot and then stops but still better than doing it stationary!
I tried it at walking pace with one notch on the handbrake and it didn't work. No beeps or alarms going off, just nothing. Maybe the later cars had something added to prevent drivers from doing this.
That's strange... it seems like the Copens that I come across in SG is able to do this. A few members here reported positive results too. Maybe we can do a poll to see if its due to the model (1.3 or 0.7) or year of manufacture? Mine is a 0.7 built in 2007.
Maybe one click is just not enough? I assume at least the handbrake warning light should light up? Andreas
My handbrake light came on at one click. I tried it today with two clicks and it still didn't work. My cars a 1.3 maybe it only works on earlier cars.
It works Tried it today in works carpark, putting roof up will moving that is one click on handbrake, with warning light on. Works OK if speed kept below approx 4 to 5mph, if you go faster alarm bleeps rapidly at you, and the roof stops moving until you slowdown. I have 2007 1.3 model Good luck if you try it
will this method still cause faults to be stored in the ECU and fill it up? would like to try it and this way seems the preferable choice to me? any info regarding filling up the storage space in the ECU memory would be much appreciated.
I know this is an old thread, but it seems kind of obvious that if you open the back-hinged boot lid at 70mph, the wind-shear would likely bend it backwards and maybe snap it off. I have often put the roof up or down while sitting at traffic lights. Why do you have to be moving?
