He Hello, Do you have any idea after how many seconds after you closed the doors the light wil turn off? Mine if I open the door the light turns on but after I close the door it takes probably one minute to switch off the light unless I start the engine. I am trying to identify if this is the problem for my doors not getting locked/unlocked from the fob.

The courtesy light stays on for around 30-45 seconds unless you either start the engine or lock the doors in which case it goes off straight away.
I don't think they do, but there is a Daihatsu made workshop manual available in the resources tab on this site.
Really helpful historic thread on what to look at, so thanks Adam. Am still learning about Copens and hopefully will own a 2nd hand one very soon.
yes, mines a “Vivid”, but I only know that because it says so on the boot lid. It doesn’t have cloth seats, but leather and if it did have a tonneau cover, it’d gone by the time I bought it - it is red though and considering its age (2004), it’s still a very bright (vivid) red, unlike a lot of red cars that fade over the years. I suspect that either the boot lid was changed at some stage or maybe someone put a Vivid name on the boot. But … I love it regardless!
Hello man, recently I attempted to do an oil filter change in front on approach .....fear of small spaces was getting to me...and it worked;not only can you see the oil filter face clearly to clean it but you can ditch the expensive copen small filter for a regular size cheaper quality filter. Method:no jacking required..remove front plastic grill, remove air box, loosen some bolts on inter cooler and disconnect rubber pipe to turbo.Use a right size filter cup with an extension to go straight in and remove old filter. If your hand is small enough and with some jiggling of loosened parts new filter can go straight on by hand, then tightened using right size cup wrench and extension...that's it.Then put parts back together.
Many thanks for the buyer guide. Having read reams of info on various advice site and forums I'm now even more nervous about buying a Copen as a second, 'hobby' car. There are a couple of apparently clean ones available locally (£4000-4500) but the dealers look a bit dodgy. Oh well, keep doing the research...
I think there is a one owner 23,000 mile 2008 being sold by a dealer near Peterborough I test drove it and very nice, but asking just under 8k and would only drop £200 It is difficult as what may be expensive to start with is cheaper in the long term and buying from a dealer should mean you get a recent full service plus MOT and a 12 month warranty which adds up to £500 Also a very good ex Daihatsu dealer in Colindale/ NW7 area Just seen 19k miles on Gumtree £6000
