Copen Grill Hi Adam, That Grill is rather special! I may want one myself? Look forward to seeing it in the flesh this weekend - Japfest 2 - here's to some good weather!
Decided to de-badge it. It's not as hard as I imagined it would be. The de-badged look works really well with the new grill. I'm a happy man.
Bought some new speakers for the doors. Nothing too flash, but an improvement over the standard speakers. They are Alpine SXE-1725S, they 165mm, £29.99 from Halfords. I had to drill an additional hole on the speaker body to mate up with the holes in the door. I didn't fancy drilling a hole in the door. The speakers are a bit too big, so I needed a couple of washers to space the speaker up. I then used some sticky back rubber to seal the gaps around the speaker. Here's the speaker fitted. The speakers sound a lot better than the originals. They work well with my subwoofer.
Fitted some chrome indicator bulbs to replace the orange ones. Standard front With chrome bulb fitted Side indicators with Lexus clear indicator housings. Haven't done the rear ones yet. I know how to take the light cluster out, just can't do it. I'll have another go.
I think the cord that goes over the hoops had been cut at the middle on this one I got off eBay. So each end I had two lengths of cord (think shoe laces). So I lifted the plastic covers at the roll hoops & tied the bag to the hoops. Then pushed the covers back down. I didn't want the ties/knots to be visible.
My K-Car induction air filter kit arrived from Japan yesturday. It's a thing of beauty, all shiney! Before I fitted it, I wanted to draw it up (I use Unigraphics NX7.5 at work). I haven't put on the jubilee clips. This one also shows the rain guard that fits just behind the grill. I modeled them up hopeing to offer drawings to other members to build there own kit. Unfortunatley K&N don't offer a similar sized filter as came in the kit. Hopefully I'll have time to fit it this weekend. Photo's to follow. I can't wait to here the noise Need to phone up my insurers tomorrow to tell them I'm fitting it.
I've fitted my induction kit. Took just over an hour to do. That included taking the bumper off. You can't see in these pictures, but there is a littler sheild that goes behind the front grill. I've been out for spin & the noise is fantastic. A great induction noise & the turbo dumping can clearly be heard too. It sounds a bit like a cough. I'm very happy with it.
It's the little things. I lowered the number plate. Before: After: 55mm lower. More expensive grill exposed.
My Copen Christmas Stash: A leather cover for the centre console D Sport water pipes Take Off Pusshun RSS Blow Off Valve Leather Hand brake with additional leather handbrake gaiter. Just need some free time to fit them
Got the BOV fitted. Man does it sound sweet. Leather handbrake a gaiter fitted. Feels nice in the hand. Fitted the leather cover to the centre console lid. Which was a right mare to fit. Still it's done, turned out pretty well. It'll go in tomorrow morning.
