    Hello Imogen and all,

Exactly the same problem, red light on permanently, boot will not open or close fully, try to open the roof and no joy, the windows don't even drop, as part of the automatic sequence :(

Windows do work normally, just not as roof opening sequence.

The boot release fob and button will not work.

Have been able to open boot manually, but the boot will not fully close.

    i'm in a 2004 Copen, just under 100,000 miles.

Have been getting quite a lot of water in the boot recently.

Roof worked perfectly about 6 weeks ago.

    Any suggestions please?

    Thanks

    Ceri

    Hi Ceri

I had similar probs with mine (also2004). It had been standing outside for some time and then the roof just stopped functioning altogether. When I finally managed to get the boot open there was water inside. I dried it out and brought the car into the garage. Lo and behold! It reset itself and has been working perfectly since. Hope this helps but don't give up!

    Thanks Badger

Yes there was water in it

I have dried it, opened the it hard way, closed it multiple times, won't reset, I will try and dry it out more

That red light won't go out and it won't fully close !!!

    Onwards and hmmmm upwards!!

    Hi Ceri

I seem to recall it took a while to dry out. Maybe the roof controller unit got wet inside (it's positioned in a really vulnerable place on the boot floor!). Mine is really discoloured with surface corrosion from the time it got soaked but (touch wood) it's been perfect ever since it recovered! Maybe yours just needs a little more TLC. Hair dryer pampering?

    OB :)

Dried rice in a bag - works for wet phones as well.

Or, in my case, I have access to industrial sized bags of silica gel... think those tiny "Do not eat" bags you get in electronics or shoes, but much much bigger.

I will take a hair dryer to it!

My boot floor has the same discolouring.

The roof controller unit (as you look into the boot) on the left or under the polystyrene on the right side please?

    Thanks

It's on the left, not covered with polystyrene. Best of luck!

I was in Australia for 6 weeks over Christmas and New Year, came home to a Copen with a flooded boot and a roof and boot that won't open. The garage had a look but feel anxious about working with a car they're not familiar with. Can anyone please recommend a garage near(ish) Edinburgh that will fix it for me?

    Hello,
I own a Copen (2004) since ...2004, and it's the first time I cannot open the roof and the boot either.
As many members here, the red light is on.
I suspect Water inside the boot or maybe a mouse ate the cables...
My question : Does anybody knows how to open the boot in that case (to see what's going on) ? I mean manualy, or by dismantle a part of the véhicule ?
    Many Thanks
