I usually just see what the new posts since last visit are on the welcome page. I seem to miss some posts though as I never saw some of these when they were originally posted. I'll try and keep up in future.

Hmm, so all the lights (apart from handbrake) turned off the last time I turned her over. I think she might have been wanting to be turned over and to go for a drive. Will monitor the next time I use her.

Just for proof with regard to discussion within this thread, as I sat in the queue at the gasoline shop I took a photo. :) Run it dry baby.
It took 34 litres and it was at the flappy thing. So no more would have gone in. Now if the tank is 40 litres and by my maths that leaves 23 litres left in the tank, that equates to over a gallon or approximately 15% of capacity. Thats still quite a lot in there.

Now if I trust my workings, do I dare to do a two work day drive after it hits E. A gallon is 40 miles plus and I'd have 15 miles to do on the extra day. Should be a doddle, right?

    3 days......

I've done over 30 miles after the needle touched E. It might have been more that was 30 miles after I noticed! it was on E.

If you didn't know it had got to E how do you know how many miles you had done?

Errr, not sure what you mean.
I did know it had got to E I said so last post. What I didn't know was exactly when it got to E. I know I did 30 miles after noticing it was on E but it could have been on E miles before I noticed.

Why did I do 30 miles after seeing it was on E? Well I didn't intend to.
I like to fill up at Morrisons, it's cheaper and they have pay at the pump which I like.
When I get home from work it's busy so I go out for fuel later in the evening. Two nights running I forgot to go back out, though one time was because I fell asleep and woke up too late. You tend to fall asleep more and at random times when you get past 40.:D

This is like some story out of a soap. What a life you live. Midnight rendevous with a petrol pump in your pyjamas.

Argh isn't that cute, he likes to fill up at Morrison's, but not at Asda's with the big lads!

If one tends to fall alseep in their 40s, then you must slip into a coma :p

Forgot to go out........memory loss also

    Thanks

Thanks for the pic of your needle - I do a lot of motorway and night journeys so can't always pull into a garage straight away when I notice it's getting low on fuel (I usually try and fill up at the quarter tank level) and have been wondering if it is safe to let it go onto the "E" line

My last 4 cars I have often took it to the E, sometimes passed as you can see. I rarely fill up before 1/4 left mark. Partly because I don't have to do so many visits to the fill up (= lazy) and lower fuel levels which means lighter so either better fuel economy :D or faster :D :D :D I only usually fill up much sooner when I'm travelling and don't know when the next pump is.

I try to hit about 240 miles at the 1/4 to go line on the trip. I guestimate about 80 miles per 1/4 so E will then occur about 320. Its not an accurate but serves as a good guide for me. I don't hit 320 often but most times have got to 300 by the time I fill up.

I think next time I'm getting to E put the lawn mower petrol can in the car and do a double day passed E. DaG 'claims' he did 30 miles! :p which would be about a double day for me. So I could confirm his lager fuelled claim. It would also make me less nervous when I do a single day passed E and know I've got bags in hand. It could also help gauge what volume is left. I'd report if I get any splutters but luckily its not hilly. This will have to be in about 3 weeks time now as I'm full :)
