Hi all, its my first post so be gentle! Had my Copen for a couple of weeks now (54 plate vivid) and have just noticed everytime I open the boot it catches on the seal (just behind passenger side) to the extent where it looks like its torn a bit off. Just wondered if this has happened to anyone before and what's causing it. Thanks in advance.
Boot / roof problem Just got my copen, garage assured me they had fixed problem with roof down and boot sticking out, garage had removed gass struts, and it worked, when struts put back same problem, any ideas.
May I suggest that you post some pictures of the problem - let us all have a look at what the issue looks like, hopefully someone will be able to guide/ advise from there? Hope that will help. Regards.
Boot / roof problem With the boot gas lift struts fitted to the boot lid the roof goes in OK, but when the boot lid shuts a corner of the lid does not close fully. It seems to jam, it's the front side, not the lock side. With the gas struts off everything works fine except of course the boot needs to be held open for loading stuff. The dealer has the car at the moment but seems unable to fix it. He is telling me it's a common problem with older Copens??
Is it both front corners of the boot lid the don't close or one side in particular? Is it a Daihatsu dealer your dealing with? I don't think it's that common a problem.
Boot problems Hi Adam It's only one side and it's not a main dealer, it's where I bought it Thanks ever so
I bet it's the only Copen they have seen. I would guess that something is miss-aligned. Tomorrow I'll take some pictures of the roof mechanism on mine. You could show the garage the pictures to compare with yours to see if any thing is out of place. Have you downloaded the service manuals yet? Might be worth giving them to your garage too. Can't remember if there's anything in it about adjusting the boot lid.
Here you go Below is the boot open position: Below is when the boot lid opens when the roof goes down:
Boot problems Adam, thank you so much for your help, I will download the manual as you suggest, once the warranty is up I will use a main dealer I so enjoy driving my copen
Did you get this sorted and if so do you know what the problem was? I have not long ago bought a Copen and noticed the near side strutt was missing, I purchased a new pair of struts and everything was fine until I put the roof down and then the near side front of the boot didn't close. Without the strutt everything is fine again.
Hmm, well the struts add resistance, so maybe the cables from the motors to the roof are old and stretched a little, not quite pulling it down against the extra pressure?
