Anyone know which cable on the 1.3 from the Engine Management Controller is the pulse signal to the speedo? I've looked in the 660 workshop manual and found it on page D12, but the connectors to the EMC are different on the 1.3. OR Anyone found a copy of the 1.3 workshop manual?? Thanks, Rex
Rang the dealer (or I should say ex-dealer) where I bought the car, to try and find an answer. They said they had the workshop manual on 'the computer' and would ring me back. Well they did ring back, but said they didn't know! Maybe I'll have to pay them a visit and show them how to read a circuit diagram. GRRR Rex.
Happy days I've found the speedo pulse cable from the ECU Just in case it helps anyone, it's light green with a red stripe on the third connector down. I think I've answered my own questions with this thread... How did I find it? Well thats the interesting part..... As above, I found it in the 660 workshop manual, but the ECU is different on my 1300 with different connectors. But I noticed the pulse cable as well as going to the speedo, also goes the the window control unit. (The window control unit then seems to have a serial data link to the roof control box. I guess the reason is to make sure you are stopped before the roof will operate.) So I thought as the window control box is probably standard for the 660 and 1300, if I could find the signal there, I could trace it back to the ECU. Found the window control box, in the boot towards the front of the car on the right hand-side. (Had to remove the carpet to find it.) Then by using the 660 manual, found the green / red pulse cable. Then I removed a couple on the plugs on the main ECU (behind the glove box) and looked for the same cable colours. Double checked for continuity using a meter (been caught out before, on the Copen, you think all the cable and stripe colours combination would be unique but they are not!) You may be wondering why I wanted to find this cable.... It's so I can connect it to my stereo - then the volume automatically changes with the car speed. Rex.

how to take carpet off is it hard to take the carpet off, there seems to be plastic buttons but I'm hesitant to use too much force. Any tips ?
Get your car key, using the tip of it. Press down on the centre circle. It'll drop into the clip about 5mm. You'll then be able to get your nail under to pop the connector out. To refit, you need to push the centre pin back up, so it sticks out the top of the connector by about 10mm. Push the fixing back in the hole & press the pin flush again. Job done.
