Hi All I picked up my lovely little green Copen last weekend after much deliberation (and reading of your great forums to help me decide if it was the car for me!)
;) What a cutie it is!
I do have a slight issue with the roof so sadly it is going back to the dealer next week to be looked at but I'm hopeful its not going to be a big issue. You have to keep taking the roller cover in the boot out of the clips and put it back in again to make the roof work (very frustrating I had to do it 3 times on Friday to make the roof go down :-((). We have cleaned the handbrake sensor (as suggested on one of these forums) but it hasn't made any difference however as it has 3 months warranty I am hoping the garage will be able to sort it out

    Hello and welcome PP,

It's easy to get access to the boot blind roof switch (need a 10mm socket).

There is only one and it is on the left, looking into the boot.

You should be able to see the grey leaver at the bottom of the opening. If you operate it with your finger you should be able to hear it click. You could also check the connections.

Here are some photos I have taken for you.

Removing the three screws, it is possible to see the switch.

    Thanks

    Hi Rex
thank you so much for taking the time to show though photos.
Unfortunately we have taken it apart and cleaned it up in case it was a connection or even dirt problem but its still acting the same. It definitely sounds as though it is clicking as the blind goes down onto it each time but just won't continue working from each use to the next without the process of taking it out and pushing back in again.
But thank you for showing the detailed pics as you have, that was really kind of you :D

    No problem,

The next thing I would do it try shorting the switch out (may be possible using a well insulated paper clip in the connector after disconnecting the switch.)

The roof ECU in in the boot, so after the above, I would try shorting it out at the ECU.
The wiring manual on this site should help, but if you have problems, working out the connections, let me know.

    Rex.

    Hi Rob
Yes, I've seen Gill's and even had a drive out in it before I bought mine :D. I haven't spotted a red one yet but have seen a couple of silver ones around. Look forward to seeing you out and about!

Hi There, yes Too Copen, I will definitely let you know how it works out, it is going into the dealers next week (I can put the roof up and down just a bit of a fiddle, but always worth it :D).
Chris, I might have seen your car this afternoon? I popped in TK Maxx first time in months and there was a red Copen in the car park!
    Thanks for all your welcomes!

    Roof problem solved

Hi I thought I'd let you know the dealer has established today that it wasn't the switch on the roller blind in the boot after all but the boot lid itself. One side was not closing flush so the car thought it was still open, so it wasn't the action of putting the blind in and out they think it was the open and closing of the boot...
I haven't picked her up yet so fingers crossed they have sorted her.

Opening the boot using the button in the centre console does reset the roof system.
