I’ve got a 2005 0.7 and have never had the usual problem of a leaking boot, but have just noticed a pool of water about 1cm deep under the passenger seat - nowhere else is remotely wet and the underneath of the car is (as far as I can see) sound. The water doesn’t seem to be coming in around the door seals, tho I could be wrong. Has anyone else had this or does anyone have any suggestions where to look to find the leak. (And no, I didn’t leave the top down in the rain....). Thanks
Remember to fold the roof down when it is dry, just in case you have been outside in the rain before-hand. This won't do your car any harm...
Thanks all - each a good suggestion but so far I m afraid it seems to be ‘none of the above’. Annoyingly it hasn’t rained since I posted the question so I’m none the wiser. Sometime this week I’ll be going out there with a hose....
Have you tried taking out the carpet? It's not that hard, just 4 screws each for the seats and some for the centre console. You might be able to see where the water ingress is
Thanks - but did that at the weekend and no obvious signs. It’s now been torrential rain for three days and...it’s bone dry! I’m going to keep an eye on it but chalk it up to maybe not closing the window properly. I’ll post back if it turns out to be anything else!
I have, but it gets too much use for that to be practical - I’m going to negotiate a garage share with my wife’s Fiat 500!!
We had this problem. I fixed the high level brake light and the boot seal around the base of the rear window and still had water behind the drivers seat. What I eventually noticed was that when water testing the boot I opened the boot to check for water, the water ran off the boot lid and was directed by the shape of the boot to the front corners of the boot. As there is no lip between the boot and the cab floor the water ran into the cab floor and pooled there. Apart from fixing the leaks into the boot we now do not open the boot lid without drying it first and have not had the water in the cab! I can also second the idea about taking the carpet out, it is the only way to dry it properly, mine took almost a week to dry in the garage when hung off a pair of step ladders to drain!
That's what happened to me a few days ago... I was very sad after that but my Copen dried out in the garage with its boot open.
I have the same problem but need a new boot seal, 3 to 4 week order time from my local dealer & £180 +VAT! Any recommendations for the supply of a seal?
This is all so useful, my 2008 Copen had a pool under the passenger seat, the boot was also soaking wet. Drying it out now and sending it to be checked so now I know what to look out for . Thanks !!
