    I want to replace my dead turbo and not really looking for the £800 price tag. I've not yet took the unit out yet as concentrating on the body work first. Can someone please tell me if Daihatsu made it so ONLY one turbo can fit this car or can we add other units to the car. Ive seen better turbos for quarter of the price so really not looking to get the turbo and know I may need to Mod a turbo to fit. I did see a better turbo for £200. Also can someone tell me the size of the flanges and so on.

    U can fit any turbo u want to a copen if you get the correct manifold and downpipe made up, but I know ihi made the ihi rhf3 vq50 for the Copen only as it's not fitted to any other car, u mite be able to fit a mira avanzato turbo but not sure if the manifold and downpipe flanges are the same,
    I am currently getting a totally custom hybrid turbo made up with larger inlet and exhaust wheels fitted and both the inlet and exhaust housing machined to fit the larger wheels, I have spoke to them and they would be happy to make some more if the demand is there but will need your turbo to create the monster hybrid out of, it will have more lag, possibly till4/5k but will put out double the power of standard turbo at around 1bar (just below fuel cut) I'm going bk down on Monday to speak to the machine shop bloke to see if he can create what I want, if you wanted a basic hybrid I could gets yours rebuilt for between 300/450 depending on what damage is done

    That sounds a lot better can you please keep me updated as wouldn't mind getting mine rebuild. It was a few month old turbo but as the last owners didnt keep the oil change up to date it ruined the turbo and now just whistles and does nothing. I believe from what I can see on here a few people will be in contact

    have you checked all the intercooler hoses and vacum lines, as whena turbos they normal smoke:think:

    have you a induction kit fitted or you still running the standard set up? it sound smore like a air leak, dead actuator or broken wastegate flap, as by the sounds of it it the turbine wheel is still spinnging and creating boost, just not any positive boost. if you not got a induction kit and can hear whistling they i would look for a air leak over the intercooler pipe work some were

    im going back in on monday when there machine man is back as he needs to make some meassurement to see if he can machine the char enough to fit the shaft in and is happy to machine out the inlet and exhaust housing as they have nver built any like this on such a small scale, i was chatting to them on friday adn said there is potential a few more that may want the same build or some thing similar st not as extreme as he was keen, they have actually sold there last copen turbo they had as said they dotn think they will getting any more from japan or maylisia as they are now rebuilding them insted of selling them to over seas

    they do have buyer out in japan and maylisa and said if there is any parts i want they can try and source them for me, and i am temtded in the k-takeoff 911 body kit for my copen

    Yes have checked all the pipes and so on. Nothing was loose. I did have the standard air filter setup have now got an induction kit. I get alot of blue smoke out the exhaust and not really reving above the 4000 mark. Thinking it may be the turbo thats gone.

    I spoke to cr turbos and what they making me is a special one off, so can't copy or make my exact hybrid again as the parts they are using are of a turbo they don't know what it is as it's a Japanese import turbo from 10odd years ago, they have got a brand new copen turbo in there which he found, if u want it give cr turbos in newmilton, Hampshire a call and ask to speak to vince and he will sort u out, he can still make normal hybrids (larger comp wheels and machined housing) for a nice little power increase aswell
