My boot came open today and despite my own attempts and that of RAC I can't open or close the boot/ roof. I'm not sure where to go for help as guessing most garages wouldn't have experience with a Copen. Possible that it's come off the track? Anyone any suggestions please I live in Gloucester? Thank you to the RAC man who told me there was a Copen forum!

I take it, that the roof is folded and the boot closed at the moment?
Did the RAC man check the battery? Many boot issues start with a failing battery...

Yes roof is folded but boot not shut. Yes he did disconnect and reconnect the battery. Really frustrating as in 8 years have never had a problem.

A few things that might help
Have a look at the last video in this link for manually closing the roof.
    FAQシステム
Its Japanese but you may be able to follow it.
Once its closed you may see something obvious.
Its possible to read the roof fault code by linking two pins in the OBD2 connector, fault codes are displayed via the roof locked cabin light, there is a you tube video on this.
Again with the OBD2 port, a blue tooth code reader is less than a fiver on ebay, this along with a free android app "Torque Lite" will read the fault codes on an android phone although I am not entirely sure if roof ECU codes come out this way.
Alternatively download the user manual from the resources section of this site for an English text on the same procedure.
Better diagnostics in the workshop manual also in the resources section.

    Thanks
I have the manual but this isn't the same as when I accidentally left something in the boot about 6 years ago and managed a manual override. Possible it has come out of the "track".

I'm not a mechanical person so the video terrified me lol!

Will get my partner to watch the video tonight thanks.

Ah just remembered a couple of times recently the boot didn't shut properly when the roof was up, so that could be connected to the problem. Will give other half directions later!

Try " with care " a manual boot open with the catch hidden below the cover in the centre glove box then re-close. This opens the boot in the manner you use to take luggage out.
Lets call this normal boot opening.
I’m having a guess here but if the normal boot closure was not correctly detected then quite probably the reverse boot opening would be locked out. and hence the roof is stuck.
Google shows Copen roofs some times fail to open and opening the boot is a recommended work around, now I know yours is stuck in the boot but this implies normal boot closure is a prerequisite for roof operation.
What is the status of the roof locked light and did you check the fuses?
Also give the roof open closing switch a good rattle.

OBD2 port is behind the edge of the trim panel just above the clutch pedal.

So what is the centre latch, possibly the main boot lock as per a normal car, worth searching the workshop manual for that phrase.
24.1 is likely a dead relay, relay welded in or stuck.
24.2 latch seems to be giving conflicting status reports.
24.3, time out, it failed to operate within a reasonable time.
So double check what the centre latch is, locate the relay and swap out as a simple substitution test, visually inspect the lock, lubricate and mechanically work / move the parts by hand if possible.
Watch out for trapped fingers etc.

You'll soon be the copenworld roof expert :)

Roof - works, but only after I've opened/closed the boot

Lol thanks I think I am an expert! After 8 years I have found all these compartments in my car and nobody told me about the bag of goodies in the boot! Used the gadgets in the bag to do some pulling and pushing and then hooray, finally tilted boot lid back and could get to the roof
Bad news is I hurt my back in the process and other half said oh look, I've bent the strut. He tried to straighten and then broke it! Now my car is back together apart from broken strut.

    Thanks for your help!

Please your almost there with your problem but sorry you hurt your back and damaged the strut.
Contact one of the ebay breakers who have a Copen and ask them to list a strut for you are deal with them outside of ebay.
There is a least one Copen in the UK being broken right now, I just had a part from him.

The hidden contraptions and gadgets are all in the user manual, you know what they say - RTFM :)
