Saw a referance to a remote oil filter kit but no specifics mentioned. Does anybody have one? or know of it? Part No. & location would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I am interested in a remote oil filter too. Have done a little looking around and found a few kits on Japanese sites and ebay but nothing I could readily snap up as completely suitable. Went to a car parts store and found I could get parts to do it, but would have to figure out the correct bits and where to mount the remote filter. Seems better to find a kit built for purpose.

Hi tictac, I have now changed our filter using a tool from supercheap. Fiddly but not too bad, it would be easier with the correct tool instead of the multi size one. Working on sourcing one now. I have had a good look around under there and can't see anywhere really suitable and I think it would be a major rework to fit the thing to start with. I'm putting it on the back burner and if I have to pull all the fron off or lift the engine out in the future I'll re visit then.

I just picked up the Daihatsu filter tool from

    http://www.impex-jp.com/

It took about a week from Japan via EMS and was 2000yen + 1200 yen delivery.

The site is in Russian, so you'll need to use google translate or the like, to navigate the site, open an account, add funds and order etc.

The part number is 09228-87201-000. . You might get it from a local Toyota dealer but I haven't had a lot of luck with them lately.

They did have the correct oil filter though for about $15 +GST - so this weekend is oil change duty :)

You don't need the specific part number. I have two small filter removal tools that fit perfectly via the hole in the engine mount, that I got from either ebay or amazon. They are, in fact, motorbike oil filter wrenches / caps that go over the oil filter. Ebay have them, and any motorbike parts place should have them as well.

The two I got are - 65mm 14 flute 1 step and 68mm 14 flute 1 step. From memory, I might be wrong, the 65mm is for the Mahle filter, and the 68mm is for the blueprint (although I cannot confirm if the blueprint filter fits through the engine bay of the 660cc Copen). Grand total of about €10 including postage!
