I dont think I have even changed a windscreen wiper, so this is going to be fun! but we all need to learn new skills right?! so picked new copen on sat, think i am going to have someone respray the front bumper - previous owners seem so have "smooched" a fair few objects! Not ideal ... they are also a few nicks here and there but since it is my everyday car, I didnt have a choice in waiting for the right one, plus I wanted it in grey as that is my preferred colour. but first to christen the car with my tax disc holder, trying to remove the old gel sticky bits first.
I still have a nice aluminium disc holder to fit - bought it the day before they announced an end to tax discs - doh!
Yeah me too! What's wrong with the size of the photo? Looks ok to me? Hope you haven't got gel sticky bits stuck to your pet the disc holder is on top of!
i will never get rid of mine - i like the aesthetic qualities. though it doesnt help with visibility lol! for me - it seems HUGE! no i got a clean tear off the window, but to put it on to new car means removing all the gel bits as they wont stick anymore and giving it a clean and getting some new gel bits. HELLO EBAY! I will still have the tax disc on display i think or maybe a copenworld logo?!
Rust! So after seeing the sunshine I ate my breakfast PDQ.... went outside and saw first - there is a horrid amount of mud in the roof joins the boot - yucky weather... but even worse a rust spot has appeared!!!!!!!!!!! ARGHHH!!!! what to do guys?? MUD RUST CLOSE UP
Rub off the loose paint with a cloth and the apply some Kurust and give it a day to dry. http://www.hammerite.co.uk/guide/kurust.jsp You can buy it from Halfords. You'll have to look online them for someone to mix you a touch up pen. All you need is the right colour code. They're on a thread on here somewhere. Then blend in the new paint with some compound rub. That's the quick fix anyway. Someone else might have a better solution. The only other solution is respray. I'm sure you can clean out the mud yourself otherwise pay to get a detail clean done.
thanks for that - we shall have a look, no doubt some others will tell me that really the only way to get rid of it is respray.. yeah i know about the mud - it is just grim though.... yucky weather !
Looks like surface rust from an untreated chip to me. Best solution might be to contact your local Chips Away man. http://www.chipsaway.co.uk/services/?gclid=CNyWxrSe0bwCFcuWtAodXW4A5w
thanks Adam K - I will do! a few pics of my travels today, thames is very high - copen same level as boats!
chips away quoted £175 plus VAT - and no guarrantee - off to the body work shops I go on monday to get some other quotes - this rate, more effective to get a respray. got my bonnet done on previous copen for £250 2 years ago
Get your hands dirty & do it yourself. Try this: http://www.chipex.co.uk/choose_product.html Then tell us how successful it was. Or not!
success! went to my local bodyshop and they said - we shall mix up the paint colour for you, we do one of the cips and you can watch and you do the rest and keep it for when you need it. Grand cost..... £10 ish. they said - if that doesnt work - it's not that bad so when you need to get something major done - then come then - otherwise it is too small to worry about. nice people
after the sandsotrm my already dirty car now looks like a mud flap! but it is going to be valeted from head to toe - including clay bared next tuesday - picking up thursday. between booking it in and now - i have noiticed an asteroid must have hit my bonnet as there is a lovely big stone chip in the middle and two tiny's at the front. GRRR!!! however got my car some presents for after it gets cleaned!
I don't think you can changer the size easily once uploaded to photobucket - Or at least I haven't found a way. If you are using windows 7, the way I change photo resolutions is: Open a photo by double clicking it. Then select the 'email' button. You how have a box where you can select the 'photo size' - Small or Medium is normally good enough. As long as you a default email program such as outlook installed a new email should open. I then drag and drop the file to the desktop. This can then be uploaded to photobucket. Sounds complicated? Once you've done it once, it is easy. OR maybe there is a better way....... Rex.
Rex - thanks - that makes sense but luckily i found another way too. still trying to get used to the other bits and bobs on photobucket - i'm way too stubborn to learn so many new things lol Alz - chrome for the roof latches, chrome aerial, chrome around the gear panel, chrome around the interior door handles, and lastly chrome for the round grey plastic swish around the speaker in the doors. SHINY!
Do you like chrome then? I just bought a boring old disel VW Golf in perpetration for my longer commute to work in my new job that starts in 2 weeks. Been busy buying bits to pimp it up. Never bothered with the appearance of cars before buying the Copen. Strange how doing up little bits on Minion Dave has inspired me to do up the appearance of my new car too
maybe.... i certainly like it more black plastic but that means less money on Minion Dave boo! boring golf! hehehe is it yellow?!
