Hi! I've been trying to source parts for my 2002 Copen L880K to make sure I am able to maintain its longevity. I've been trying to build up my knowledge base as finding parts sources for my car are getting to be few and far between. If anyone knows of fair, reliable and reasonably priced parts sources worldwide for a 2002 L880K, I would appreciate if you could please pass them on to me. With that information I could at least compare them to source suppliers I know of. Perhaps the places I get my parts would be useful information to others. Aren't our cars great, though! Thanks for taking the time to read my post. Cheers, Tony
I'm in Alberta. I would appreciate your western Canada suppliers because I know none. The only parts source I know is yahoo japan. I have a 2005 copen. thx
Hi David, The place I've had the best luck for parts for my Copen is Japanoid Auto Sales Inc.which is located in New Westminster, BC -- jpnoid.com -- . Shogo ( the owner) has a direct connection to Daihatsu in Japan and was always prompt and courteous in answering my questions and concerns. Japanoid replaced my turbocharger recently and it has been working great so far. As I also have a Japanese 2009 Suzuki mini-truck I have been able to get parts for it from Japanoid. I would also recommend fitinparts.sg (Fitin Parts Singapore) as I have bought various odds and sods-- for my truck too ( oil filter, air filter, cabin filter etc.) for really good prices. Good luck in your search and if you come across any good deals somewhere else please give me a shout via email. Thanks, Tony PS Have you had to replace your battery and if so could you recommend where to buy a replacement? Thanks
Thanks Tony. Those look like great resources. I have ordered quite a bit from Yahoo Japan and have the name of an exporter who handles everything from winning the auction to shipping etc at a reasonable cost. Much cheaper than attempting to purchase copen parts from ebay. I do have quite a few spare parts if you ever need something (full exhaust system, tail lights, 3rd brake light, grill, interior components, mirrors, wheels, front and rear springs, etc.) I have not had to replace the battery as of yet (fingers crossed) but I had sourced one that would fit from interstate batteries just in case I need one in the future. I don't believe there are many copens in Canada - amazing little car. Was it a silver one you brought in? From Derek? David
Hi David, Thanks for your reply and I really appreciate your information. I may have to take you up on purchasing your spare parts someday. But for now, my Copen is in great shape. I'm probably going to get my old turbocharger rebuilt so I either have a back up or will perhaps sell it. You are absolutely right, I do have a silver Copen. I didn't import my car into Canada but bought it from a private seller near Winnipeg. I hopped on a plane for ninety bucks, flew to Winnipeg, and drove my Copen back to Salt Spring. What a fantastic drive! Our Copen's are quite amazing! I don't know Derek ( I'm assuming he helped you bring yours in) but I agree that there are few Copens in Canada. I only know of one other Copen owner in BC. Are you the only Copen owner in Alberta? Anyways, gotten off track from the thread which I apologize for. Happy driving! Cheers, Tony
Hi Tony. I'll move it over to pm. But if I do come across any other good sources I'll post back here. David
