I'm more worried that Microsoft are developing a car. It's going to be delivered with no wheels and it'll take 6 months before they 'patch' it - then it'll get square wheels.
What is that and where did you get it? I've been thinking about a Carplay unit but I can't really justify the price for full Carplay certification.
It's an A-Sure Android 5.1.1 unit from good old eBay £118 delivered. So far, it seems to be pretty damn good. capacitive screen is quick to respond and comes with built-in wifi to use my phone as a hotspot. I haven't looked at rooting it yet and it works well enough with password access to the admin functions that I might not even bother.
Living in Apple's Walled Garden as I (happily!) do, I don't know how much functionality I'd get from a device like this. What do you actually use it for? My needs are music, maps, texting and to run my cheap-petrol-finding app.
This is where people waste money in my opinion - I got a unit for £36 with a 4.1"tft screen and reversing camera. My phone connects to it over Bluetooth and that provides my music, SatNav ect, the actual unit only needs the Bluetooth connection and the phone does all the work - also has a USB charging port for your phone ect. I just looked up Carplay, so Apple has to have a dedicated stereo to do the stuff my cheapo chinese no-make stereo can do with any Android? You don't get the display and touchscreen interface, but you shouldn't be looking at a display while driving anyway.
