Hi Guys, I got a Copen 3 weeks ago. I'm loving it. Previous owners did a few weird things to it that I'm rectifying but I got it for a steal:)

Anyone else on here from South Africa?

    Regards
    Claude

Hi Claude, a year late, but we have two Copens, red and yellow. Near Pretoria. There are a few others around, but not many.

I still have my silver one. How is the ride on yours? I feel like I need new shocks but I'm struggling to get them.

Hi, i also needed front shocks for my car. You will only be able to get them from the agents @R5500 each or off ebay or an online site that sources from japan. The cost can be quite hectic. What I managed to do was source a brand new shock locally for a daihatsu yrv and modified it by cutting off the spring seat which was higher up on the new strut and welding it to the appropriate position as on the old strut.
They then costed around R1100 each with the welding job which I find was way more affordable than R5500 each from the agents locally or much more when you source from overseas. I Hope that helps. ( the agents I speak off is kia in pinetown- Durban)

A good thing to remember is that the engine is the same as a Sirion's. The older one of my Copens overheated, so I just replaced the engine with an imported second hand engine. The "new" engine already did more than 100 000km. Still use it daily. It is perfect for our climate.
