Thought it was about time i got some pics up of what i have done so far debaged front and painted the grill black painted trims, new gearknob and pedals, i changed the door speakers for alpine mids and tweeters seriously cheap dvd head unit from halfrauds got bored over the bank holiday and decided to fit some speakers i had lying around, was a lot more hassle than i thought it would be due to the bracing between the cabin and the boot, cut some 6mm mdf, stuck some audio carpet on with spray adhesive and refitted with the speakers, much better sound now but i am still thinking of getting one of those compact subs. more to come soon.
its all dependant on funds, i have an old scooby which is a money pit at the moment, but i would love to get hold of the daihatsu spoiler and skirts/splitters, am thinking of getting my alloys painted and need an air filter so maybe looking for an aftermarket filter.
Nice mods. I like the black painted front grill. Works well against the red. I also like the red centre console section. That was offered as an accessory in Japan. I don't suppose you took photos of the stages of installing those rear speakers. That would be a good "how to". I'd like to see your car in the flesh. Pop along to this meet if you can: http://forums.copenworld.com/showthread.php?t=457 I'm hoping to get alot of Copens along.
Adam, It's not difficult to take out the back board. Just pop up the centre and roll bar plastics. The side panels also pop off. Then the back board, that also - wait for it - pops off. With the back board off, you can see the bars that restrict the speaker mount positions. Don't forget to take the roof up and down to see where this fits in as it comes close to the back wall. I wish I had taken some pictures, but expect for the wind thingy (technical term ) between the seat its all 'pop and play'! Rex.
Sorry didnt do pics along the way but as rex says its not to difficult to take apart, just have a good look at everything beforehand, should be coming to the kei cars meet, would love to see an az1 in the flesh.
Their is a plan to get all four of the on the road AZ-1's in the UK to attend. Beating the 2009 record of three. Hope to see you there.
pic of the rear - debadged boot and windbreak, chrome exhaust trims from ebay (way cheaper than the daihatsu option) hope to get my wheels sprayed over the summer.
