Alarms were aftermarket in the Copen, if I remember correctly. I'd check the glovebox area, and the plastic void under the gear knob bezel / surround.
I've got the Cobra 3 button fobs. Foolishly I didn't check these as thoroughly as I should have and only one of them deactivates the alarm properly. The other remote doesn't unlock the car but instead it generates 4 beeps and the car stays locked. The lock and boot release do nothing as far as I can tell and if I open the car with the key, the alarm goes off. Here's a couple of pics of the fob if any of the fob gurus can help.
One for @Salieri Do you happen to know where the cobra alarm box is on the 1300cc model please. I've got a new fob but I can't programme it to the box. Cobra support have given some pointers but I need to locate the box. * update. I had a look attached the bonnet switch which doesn't seem to work so I definitely need to find the box and ground the relevant wire. This will let me enter programming mode and sort it out. Thanks.
My cars being MOT'd at the moment but I'll have s look tonight if it's not too cold and dark I'm sure that I've got the Cobra instructions in my glove box so I should be able to find something useful.
Thanks Clare. It's not under the flap in the boot on ours unfortunately so might take some hunting. Hopefully the manual will point me in the right direction.
Here are the instructions for my alarm - I have a different fob to you so it may be slightly different. I'll check for the box in the morning when it is light
Sorry, I had a look and it isn't anywhere obvious on my car either I have looked everywhere I can think of and it's annoying me as well now I can't believe it is that well hidden
Maybe buried somewhere under the dash or in the engine bay? That is where I would start Apparently the people from cobra did a good job, a car alarm ususally should not be found by thieves
I've now added instructions for the Cobra alarm (model 8165) supplied with some Copens to the resources page.
Thanks. I have a copy of the cloning instructions if needed but they probably shouldn't be posted in the general resources section.
I had such high hopes as well Clare Thanks for looking though. I don't suppose anyone has a friendly former Daihatsu dealer that might help ? The nearest to me is York and it's quite a hike.
There IS no Daihatsu UK hehe, doubt the email is monitored. Think this is what it should look like and have you tried tracing the wires? Looking at the wiring diagram there should be a whole lot of wires heading to that little box from various places.
