FOR ANYONE STILL WANTING CUSTOM DAIL SETS PLEASE READ THE QUOTE BELOW FOR AN ALTERNATIVE. "Ok, as there has been no response to this offer, I'm going to close it. It's a little disappointing because I think that white dials look great, especially where the overwhelming colour of the Copen dashboard is black. I still intend to order white dials myself, from K-Tec, Germany, as mentioned above by MCP, with his very striking red dials ordered from there. Order information from K-Tec Carconcepts TachoDesign | K-Tec Carconcepts TachoDesign individual Speedo Dials u Plasmatacho " ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Exciting news here for anyone UK based who likes to customise their Copen. Here is your chance to acquire a special limited-edition white background dials set and upgrade from the standard black dials. In my search to find a company that would make me a replacement dial set with a white background, I drew a blank, until I spoke to Lockwood International - a reputable company in this field. They told me that producing a single set would be unviable, but they would be willing to produce 10+ sets if I could find the buyers. So here I am and here's the deal. This special commission is open to anyone who owns a car with a MPH speedometer (sorry, no KPH car owners) The dials will be available as two separate orders, for 660cc and 1300cc cars respectively, due to the different rev counter readings. Prices will start at £50 + VAT, with discounts available if we order in larger numbers. We must achieve a minimum of 10 orders per engine group for that group order to go ahead. Price points to achieve a discount are: 10 sets - £50 + VAT 15 sets - £45 + VAT 20 sets - £40 + VAT Delivery prices are £2.45 per set - economy, £7.95 - express, for UK delivery. It would be great to get a discount, but I'm just excited to be able to acquire a set of white dials at a very reasonable price, compared to commissioning a custom order which could be in the region of £200. Below is a couple of low res images of the 660cc engine dials in day and night mode. I think they look great, a little retro, very sporty looking and would really help lift the overwhelmingly black feel of the dashboard, unless that's your thing of course. To commit to buying a dial set you'll need to submit your order to: sales@lockwoodinternational.co.uk using the email reference "Daihatsu Copen white dial set order" Please include the following: * Your name and a UK delivery address * The engine size of your Copen * Your email address - linked to your Paypal account. For those who do not use Paypal, you'll be able to submit your credit card details via Paypal, as a normal online order. Just submit your main email address. Now because these will be special, one-off orders, we need to get as many people on board before the orders can actually go ahead. This will require a buyer procurement period of 2 or 3 weeks to attract enough buyers. We will need a cut off date, so I propose 2 weeks from today (2nd April), extended to 3 weeks only if we don't get enough numbers to achieve the minimum 10 sets per engine size order. Upon closing the procurement period, I will instruct Lockwood to go ahead with our orders. They will then submit Paypal payment invoices to everyone. It's incumbent for everyone here to pay promptly upon receipt of their invoice, otherwise the order may be delayed or not go ahead. In the unlikely event that an order could not go ahead, Lockwood would refund any money owed to individuals. But we need to pay promptly for Lockwood to actually start making the orders. Once all the invoices have been paid it should take 3 weeks to fulfill and dispatch the orders. I hope this process seems transparent to everyone. Lockwood have a good reputation in this field. It's really just like a regular online order, only it's a special commission. Please comment below to declare you've submitted your order to Lockwood. This will help me keep a tally of committed buyers. Any general comments or questions also welcome. I'll also be advertising this special order on the Daihatsu Copen UK Facebook forum to cast the net as widely as possible. Now let's spread the word and get those orders in for this time-limited, special offer and lets make 2021 a year to remember for our little ones!
I would be interested in a set for the 1300 if there are others interested, I expect there's not that many of us.
They look good. I could have done with this 7 months ago when I was after some custom dials. Lockwood weren't interested in/able to do a single set of dials at that point. After emailing a few compaines I ended up with some from K-tec car concepts (K-Tec Carconcepts Tachodesign individuelle Tachoscheiben u Plasmatacho). Might be useful if you don't get the numbers, though like you have already said the alternatives are more expensive (was 117 euro - the exchange rate was better a few months ago). They did offer me a range of colours. I've switched to a black steering wheel but kept some red at the front with the dials.
Those dials look really good in Red MCP. It's looking unlikely that there is enough interest, even including the Facebook groups. There were plenty of 'likes' for the advert/posts but without contacting individual members to encourage them to commit it won't happen. To compound it all I have to go into hospital for a major operation which I wasn't expecting. I want to make photo slide instructions on how to disassemble the dials, because there were some peps who were interested but were obviously put off by the fiddly stuff without a clear guide. I will come back to this subject as soon as I can. I really want to see those white dials fitted! And hopefully in a few other Copens too.
Glad you like them. White always look good. The red was a gamble. Hope the op goes OK. I can confirm for anyone who is concerned about doing it swapping the dials out is really easy and has been covered elsewhere on the forum I seem to remember. I managed so anyone can. I did it like this. Are other and probably better ways. Might have missed a step out as it was months ago and more than happy for anyone to correct/improve. 1) Take photos of the positions of the needles with engine warmed up and running (fuel, engine temp and idling revs) 2) The front of the binnacle just pulls off (gently with maybe a bit of jiggling with a trim removal tool). 3) The instrument cluster is held on with 4 screws then unplugs. 4) The needles pull off (again gently, they will budge) then four screws holding on the dials. The little palstic stops pull off from the dials, 5) Put new dials on and secure with screws. Don't put needles back on yet. 6) reconnect instrument cluster to the car and secure with a couple of the four screws. You will need to go for a drive and don't want it to fall out. 7) Start up engine and make sure warm. Can then use pictures to put on fuel, engine temp and rev counter needles. 8) Did the speedo needle by using a sat nav phone app that displays the speed and went for runs on a quiet bit of straight road. Put the speedo needle on loosely until I knew it was correct at a few different speeds but made sure it was a couple of MPH too fast as speedos usually are. 9) once happy can put in the rest of the screws and finish re-assembling.
Thankyou for those instructions. Quite a bit easier than I thought, where I envisaged having to remove the whole instrument module and taking it apart. I shall make a quick photo tutorial from these.
Ok, if there is anyone still interested in having a set of these unique instrument dials, the bad news is unfortunately we didn't reach the minimum of 10 orders per engine model. The GOOD NEWS is that Lockwood are willing to provide the dials at a much lower minimum order number. It does mean, unfortunately, that individual orders will cost more. I guess if you're like me and you want something badly enough the increased cost may be a marginal issue. The rarity value will be even higher The new prices and minimum order numbers are now: £75 each + vat for a minimum of 5 + sets ordered. £100 each + vat for a minimum of 3 or 4 sets ordered. Delivery prices are £2.45 per set - economy, £7.95 - express, for UK delivery. Please state preference for express, otherwise default delivery is economy. Please submit your order with the following details to: sales@lockwoodinternational.co.uk using the email reference "Daihatsu Copen white dial set order" Please include the following: * Your name and a UK delivery address * The engine size of your Copen * Your email address - linked to your Paypal account. For those who do not use Paypal, you'll be able to submit your credit card details via Paypal, as a normal online order. Just submit your regular email address. I suggest a provisional order period of about 10 days for Lockwood to take our orders, in order that we gain the minimum order numbers, which would take us to the 17th April. All being well, I will ask them to proceed, they will issue invoices to everyone concerned and as long as everyone pays promptly Lockwood should deliver our dial sets 2-3 weeks later. Remember, there are effectively two orders in play, 660cc AND 1300cc. So we require a minimum order number to be achieved for each engine size. If one engine size achieves the required numbers that order will still go ahead, even if the other order does not achieve the minimum numbers. But I'm sure some of you can be persuaded we really do need these lovely retro-sporty dials in our Copens. I'm going into hospital today for an operation, but hopefully, when I'm out and fit enough (probably a couple of weeks) I would like to do a simple photo instructional on replacing the dials. I hope this might reduce any doubts that some potential buyers might have about the ease of changing the dials. Please let me know down below if you have put in your provisional order.

Interesting. Does MPH-copens (England only, as i understand, there was no official USA market?) have speedometer to 220 kmh in stock version? That's quite strange comparing to 140kmh only at JDM version. I've got turboR spec Daihatsu YRV (quite rare version), and there was also special speedometer (from factory) with 220 kmh peak (compared to stock 180), and it could never get more than 200 (downhill ), but even stock gets 180 quite easy. Looking at this enormous copen gap (220 vs 140) makes so strange feeling Maybe there is no speed limiter at yours version?
Kei cars sold in Japan tend to be speed limited to 140km/h. I believe it is one of the restrictions of being a kei class vehicle.
Bonjour. Perso , j'ai une copen1.3 du 04/2006. Je serais intéressé par des fonds de compteurs blancs. Étant en France la graduation devra être en km/h. Je reste à votre écoute. Cordialement Fabrice
