Well Jane has had the car for nearly a month now, she has a long list of what she wants doing, so thought we'd keep you all up to date. Tomorrow she will be going in for a good old rust proofing session, followed by a bit of chopping and changing. Photos real soon
What plans have you got for after the rust proofing? One of the great things about a Copen is that there are always bits that you can be planning to make it unique. My shopping list goes on forever although rust proofing is at the top of mine right now too
Hi, This is what will be happening... Rust proofing is number 1 on the list First phase I've purchased and fitted the chrome grille and stubby antenna, I swiftly followed this by centralising the front registration plate, this will require chopping and filling the front bumper. Second phase chrome exterior handles and side indicator lights and a full body wrap. After this it will be wheels (maybe 14" with more rubber), and interior bits and bobs inc recovering the seats and door cards and other leather pieces. That will do for now , don't want to neglect my own baby .
Good job I enjoy the modding scene, I think . BTW don't know if anyone uses this but ACF50 is an amazing product for rust control.
Hi If you are looking to rust proof your car, take a look at this thread https://www.copenworld.com/community/threads/full-rust-proof-copen.2652/ I done it the first time and have recently gone back over my arches due to the rubber lining on the wheel arches keeps rust tucked in. I haven't updated the thread with the latest pictures but will soon. Its interesting as i've not heard anyone on here mention they have taken the rubber lining in the arches off, If they did would show more rust, give it a few years and they may not have any arches left. mine has been in a dry garage for a whole year so if the car is being used everyday, trust me TAKE OFF THE RUBBER LINING. All copens are rotting there and not much people know of it.
Please post some pictures of your work! That'd be great! I've just installed the new grill too: https://instagram.com/p/8V1F19p0CF/?taken-by=abronssmith Looks beaut!
There's quite a few on UK Ebay albeit the seller from Japan. Alternatively, buyee.jp has loads of them too Just ask Jesse Streeter for the import help
Well it's getting there! the bumper is now sorted, as is the bubble on the bonnet, and i'm happy to say the previous owner did a good job of rust proofing, making it an easier and cheaper job to complete. Before pics
Today we're very happy, my friend at the garage has done a brilliant job!, he also informed me the car is pretty damn good with the previous owner doing a great job on the rust proofing front. The only thing needed is to properly align the registration plate as it's a little off.
More than happy I think, the only thing she wasn't much for was the reg not being centralised. Ooops forgot to mention my friend at the garage also removed a good few scuff marks from the driver side headlight.
Just found a way of blowing £31 really quickly (buy a gasket for the brake light) oh yes, just to add, it didn't work it was to thin!. Then I did what i'd contemplated before so used a 6mm neoprene rubber seal from work, it worked and was free "I should have tried this first" we now have a lovely dry boot.
I've got the same grille! Very nice I bought mine from Chrom Design in Germany and had it powder coated black locally for more contrast against the white body work.
