Finally got the alloys done after a bit of a palava. Bought 4 wheels off Jezza on here (cheers bud) but my courier was kind enough to only deliver three. Useless feckers lost a wheel. Had to source another and got a terrible condition one from a breakers yard for a lot more money than it should have been but what else could i do. Anyway, now all been totally refurbed in power silver powdercoat with new bridgestones and blingy bling red 'alloygaters'. Bit marmite - you'll love 'em or hate 'em i guess. I think they look pretty neat.
They look good! Any chance of some close up pics of the wheels? What company did you use and how much do they charge? I'd like to get mine done, the rears are nice but the fronts are terrible.
Was going to post a close-up pic but photobucket have 'improved' their site and i've no idea what they were thinking about. Anyone can suss it out please let me know how you're meant to get img code now. Wheel refurb was £169 for the 4 inc tyre fitting and balancing. I used a company in Kirkcaldy called 'We restore alloys'. Kinda says it all really! lol. The alloygaters are another £95 fitted for the 4 strips (and a spare included). The tyres were £190 for the 4. The best thing about buying the extra wheels means there was no need to be putting the car up on blocks for a week while all that got done. I'll send the original wheels away to get done in a while. Maybe a matt anthracite or something a bit different. We'll see. Adam, the grill mod is just strips of 25mm chrome sticky backed edging. £10 a 5m roll and 20 minutes with a Stanley knife so not really much to write up about. Quite effective change to the look of the car though for a simple mod.
Wheels look great. Can't decide if I like the red stripe though. Really need to get my alloys refurbed. But it's all time & money. How long did they take to do your wheels? The place I've had the best quote from said they'd need the car (or just the wheels) for 24 hours.
Don't think you'll get anywhere quicker than 1 day. I was in no rush because I bought a spare set of wheels and got them done so the car was never off the road. Just a half hour to swap the 4 wheels when ready. I now have the four wheels I took off available. Might be tempted to sell. They will need refurbed though.
great car! I would never have chosen colours for my wheels but this may have changed my mind! They look great - thanks for sharing these pictures
aerial is broken. needs the base unit replaced. gonna wait until i'm under-sealing the car and see if i can get to it with the rear wheel arches removed. might put an electric one in...
