Hi to all members, So glad this site exists and to have joined it because to be honest I will surely need some help/ advise in the future let alone desperate for the workshop manual . Just got myself a beautiful 2009 low mileage example, very pleased as I have wanted one for about six years, she's a keeper. Enough said , good luck to all.:
At least 2 new Copen owners in the Midlands!! Gerry Picking up my 2007 Copen on Friday. Wanted one for years, can't wait.
Exciting times ahead. Thanks for my first message reply on copenworld. I think this site will be invaluable in future years . Congrats on your new little gem, (very wise choice/investment I feel, especially if it is the 1.3 version). I am absolutely loving mine so much even though I have had motorbikes as well as various cars for so long. I prefer to jump in the copen at present, addicted I think. I have already fitted a new body kit which previous owner gave me with the car, I think it's personalised the car and I like it a lot, also topped up the air conditioning with refill kit from Halfords which got it working again fine as it wasn't before. My next project is to have a stainless steel exhaust fitted as I don't want to mess about changing bits of the steel ones all the time as its a nuisance, uneconomical and time consuming let alone picking up lovely scratches everywhere from our caring young trainee mechanics out there ?. I will message the details when I get around to it but for now it's OK. Best of luck with collecting your New Copen and take care bringing her home. I collected mine about two weeks ago and drove her back from stoke to Birmingham on a horrendously wet and windy day on the horrible m6 but everything went fine and now I am getting on great with driving and familiarizing. Good luck again and be sure to let me know when you have her in your posession, have fun and enjoy her, patience rewards, regards , Gerry.
Welcome Gerry and CollyCopen! I notice that CollyCopen has been silent over the weekend - enjoying yourself a tad, yeah? Gerry - so glad you managed to track down a good 2009 1.3. I was gobsmacked when I met Neville, my Copen, in North Wales on a wet November day: a late plate 2009, under 20K on the clock and under budget - I didn't need to think too hard! That drive back to Cumbria was brill but since then, on those windy Lakeland roads - weehee! You already seem to be getting stuck into the jobs and projects - good on ya. One thing I would check early is whether the previous owner did any rust-proofing on it. If not, I'd do that this summer, while the metal's still in A1 state as the lack of protection Daihatsu gave it is simply shocking and certainly not up to gritted roads in a British winter. Hey, have a fabbo time, enjoying your little bundle of joy in the improving weather!
rustproofing Hi Jules , thanks for reminder about rustproofing underneath. It was the very first thing I did to my copen when I got her back. No doubt the jobs will keep coming but hey I enjoy it really and I'm always trying to future proof my vehicles a little bit. Keep up the good work and nice to have had some input from you I'm sure I will be pinching your brain in the future sometimes for the good the bad and the ugly. Happy driving.
Do wave if you spot another Copen around Bham - could be myself or my other half. (we both have silver 1.3 Copens)
copen common Oh dear, mine too is a silver Copen. Must be getting popular amongst us brummies, who said we never had good taste? I will certainly be giving you a wave or a friendly toot. Good to know you're about, bound to cross paths soon, Regards Gerry.
