    Hello everyone,

My manual gear box shaft seal is leaking.
As I am located in Singapore it's hard to find the parts to change it out.

Could anyone point me in the right direction as to what I can do from here on?
Perhaps either a shaft seal from another brand that can be used to swap for the current faulty one, and if such a shaft seal exist, what and where can I get it in Singapore?

Alternatively, anyway I can repair that broken seal?

    Thanks in advance

Before going to the considerable trouble of changing the seal it might be worth putting in some rubber seal conditioner. I haven't used any in a gear box yet but I did stop a leak in an engine using this method.

Have a look at this article. The Best Transmission Additives (Review) in 2020 | Car Bibles
You can buy a bottle that will condition the seals as well as the gears themselves, which could be worth it as Copen gearboxes are whiny and use cheap bearings that can fail as a result. I've used a gearbox conditioner which I think is beginning to quieten the whine. I only wish that I had tried a 2 in 1 product now, to condition the seals as well.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I read that that is an interim solution at best, but i guess that can be my worst case scenario.

I would like to clarify that it is the shift shaft seal - basically the part where the gear stick goes into the transmission assembly.

Anybody got any ideas or suggestion?

The best case would be if someone suggests/recommends a compatible shift shaft seal that was originally meant for another car and appropriate it on the copen.

I do not know the part number for the shift shaft seal, however I have found a (Japanese) video and blog post showing the process of replacing it.
He is replacing the seal and the selector forks as well. It looks like the whole gearbox has to be disassembled to get to the seal, so it's not something that can be done at home.

Hope this can be some use

Old post I know, but yes the gearbox has to be taken apart to replace the seal.
I had to do that. Such a Stupid design.
While you are there, replace all the bearings as they will be on there way out too.

    My post is above.....
No, but Toyota Dealership will be able to tell you.
Not sure what the cost is but as I said above, you cant replace it without taking the box out and splitting it.
The seal goes in from the inside not the outside.
