Just brought my copen and she looked really nice on the outside apart from the know rust patches on the back arches which looked like 2 little dots. I thought before she gets any worse I will sand them down and tackle them. To my surprise the 2 little dots had spread a lot further and I was very surprise from a 56 plate that's done only 36 thousand miles. So have now sanded the back end down and treated the metal before it goes through. The rust did spread but didn't eat through the metal. Each weekend will be going through the car and rust proofing her.

Welcome stickypinkyfinger (just love that name :D:D)! Yeah the dreaded rust is a Copen issue. Got mine done this year. The rear arches and behind the front wheels :(:( let's hope it lasts! Enjoy your copenning!! :)

    My First plan

All I was going to do was tackle the 2 rust patches at the back which ended up being bigger than I first imagined. Sanded both sides down and treated the metal

Thought to myself I may as well look for any other rust patches that may be starting on the car. First thing is first, take the front bumper off. To my surprise MORE rust patches

Started treating the metal you can see the rust a bit more clearly here. The blue is where i'm treating the metal. Very surprised considering the cars done 36000 miles

All the metal treated now was time to get some Hammerite on the metal framing and brush on, on the inside arches

Time for the underneath. Very surprised again that the BRAND NEW exhaust had little patches along with the underneath of the car. First of all tackle EVERY rust patch or anything that looked like rust

Same time as the underneath was drying thought i would tackle the front wing. I noticed there was a bit of rust starting to gather all around the edge of the wing so treated the metal and the points where the wing bolts on

Thanks old badger. I thought as I was keeping the car I may as well get it done properly. Just wanted to let everyone know rust is EVERYWHERE on these. Got a few big mods in mind to so will keep you posted.
