Hello Guys Can you tell me if the running gear suspension brakes etc are different on the Earlier models to the later models ? Has any one brought an early model and say if the turbo blew up replaced the engine with a later 1.3 ? Or are the completely different mechanically just the same body wise . Thank you and hope it not to much of a silly Q ,
I looked up the the clutch's for both cars a while back and they were the same clutch. Which probably means the two gearboxes, bell housing., etc are the same. I'm not sure about the suspension or brakes though. There isn't a big difference in the power from both cars and the engine weight won't be drastically different so I can't see why it shouldn't be possible. It will be a very expensive swap though, apart from the engine you'd need quite a lot of what is under the 1.3 bonnet.
if you are going to the trouble of converting to a 1.3 how about forgetting the Yaris power and installing a Hayabusa?
The bike engine option is very tempting, but the problem is the bike engine is not designed to produce the sort of torque required even for a car the size of he copen.
