Hi I am from Jamaica, I have had the 2003 daihatsu copen for some time now and I am wondering if the double core/dual Radiator DUAL CORE FULL ALUMINUM RACING 2-ROW RADIATOR 92-00 HONDA CIVIC/DEL SOL/INTEGRA | eBay can fit in place of the old Radiator, has anyone done anyting like this b4?
To be honest, probably not or only with modifications to the mounting points. If your old one is broken, this should be the correct replacement: 61284 NISSENS OE QUALITY WATER RADIATOR | eBay
超特価 2層 50MM アルミ ラジエーター コペン L880K A/T M/T /【Buyee】 "Buyee" Japan Shopping Service | Buy from Yahoo! Buy from Japan! seems to be a specific Copen replacement radiator but it's double the price of the one you linked and then there'd be taxes and shipping from Japan! If you can find a universal one that's small enough to fit in the space, a good mechanic should be able to bolt it on and connect it up fairly easily, it's not a job I'd try myself though. I wouldn't use the one you linked, it's for a 1.8 - probably way too big and overkill for a little Copen
Best bet is to measure up the space you have to work with in total, measure the rad and see from there.
The rad I got in now has seen better times, so I was thinking of just going double core, plan on doing some modifications to the copen and run track with it
Salieri linked to an Ebay listing in Germany for the correct radiator. I just bought one. Half the price of buying one locally here in Australia, that is if you could actually find one. And including having it delivered to your door in 7 days or less. I recommend you do that. Be aware that the page is totally in German, so you have to know what you're doing there.
61284 NISSENS OE QUALITY WATER RADIATOR | eBay This is the english language version, im not 100% sure it fits but the measurements seem to be at least somewhat correct. Please keep us updated whether its the correct one iamkkool: Just measure the radiator in your car?
Hey, thanks, Salieri I managed to get through the German version alright. I tried to get one here through my local mechanic; his catalog didn't even mention Copen. He rang his supplier in Sydney, who said he used to own a Copen himself, and although he didn't have the right radiator, he had one he was 99% sure would fit. So it got sent up here and when I went to pick it up, it had the mounting spigots in the wrong places, and there was a hose connection missing. So, I'm glad I looked here. Thank you. It does say it's for 0.7 Copen JB, so I'm sure it's the right one. You'll know soon enough one way or the other. Amazing, 66 GBP postage, and it's still half the price of buying it here locally. Putting it in will be interesting. I don't see much problem, other than how to get the a/c condenser out of the way without disconnecting it. We shall see.
I sure hope they are sending out the correct one and are not some kind of scammers. Sometimes it happens but you can only be sure after it arrived. If there is a problem, I would try to get my money back via Paypal. I have done so in the past with chinese sellers (some are shady even though their page looks legitimate) and it almost always worked out
Ow.. I thought you had already bought a radiator from these people. Never mind, we'll know soon enough. I have a lot of experience dealing with fake items from Chinese sellers, but no outright scams. Anyway, the radiator seller looked legitimate to me, and if not, Paypal will get your money back even if Ebay doesn't. Paypal has helped me several times with dishonest sellers. I just realized, it is coming from UK, not Germany. Don't know why I missed that in the first place. Anyway, I don't see anything that indicates anything untoward.
Im sorry if I misguided you, I didnt buy there, just looked for the part online and that was all I could find
@ Salieri Well, I think you did well; it certainly appears to be the right product, and I have been contacted by the seller who wants verification of the vehicle make and type before they send it. And it's less than half what I would have paid here locally. And that includes express airfreight. So, thank you again. I had been looking all over Ebay, and never found that one.
@ iamkkool that Honda radiator you linked to is way too big for a Copen. One thing Daihatsu does really well is cooling. I have not seen any suggestion of inadequate cooling of my Copen throughout the very hot Australian summer we've just had. The temperature gauge never moves from the halfway point. Looking at the picture, not only is the radiator way too big, but everything is in the wrong places. It would be a nightmare.
I think i found the parts number for the L880k radiator: 16400-97220 Its manufactured by Denso (Densos parts number is 422172-6440) They are very hard to find Its 247€ in Germany :O Except for heavy stop and go in the summer or standing in a traffic jam my temperature always stays at 82°C
