I've visited the local Toyota since we don't have Daihatsu in NZ anymore.
New air filter will cost me ridiculously NZ$500+gst and that doesn't come with the engine block:rolleyes:

Does anyone know the actual k&n product number that'll fit Copen 659cc?
Also what would be the ideal piping? Would I need to get it custom made?

Nearly £260 for an air filter plus tax. I refuse to believe that but if it is the cost I bet they don't sell many.

Are there no car accessory shops in NZ where you can buy a copy part?

    Air filter NZ ripoff

I bought two air/oil filter sets off eBay UK - total landed in NZ was under NZ$200.

The difficulty was finding a seller who would ship to New Zealand, so I asked a friend if he'd get them shipped to his place and then on send to me. That worked a treat.

NZ Post also offer a drop shipping service, I believe.

    Hi guys,

I bought the DSport air filter which has a bigger opening than the stock and my dad installed it for me. I found my ride to be sluggish especially at around 3000rpm. Is this normal since i have not upgraded my intake? or did my dad somehow installed it inaccurately?

When I installed my DSport air filter, I didn't get any sluggish feeling.
Thing is, with the shape of the filter I don't think it's possible to fit it incorrectly.
Just check the hoses leading from the top of the air filter housing are connected up okay without any kinks or restrictions. Plus make sure the sensor is fitted back on the top of the air filter housing.

Thanks man.. will go check. The sluggish feel usually happen when the car is about to change gear. Something is not right.

    DSport reuseable?

    Hi, guys,
I followed this with interest as the cost of a new air filter in Australia for the little turbo is around $100 but I can import a 'generic' one for about $70. I have been looking at the D sport - which I can import for about $140 - the advantage is that I have been told (by the seller) that it is washable and reuseable...which would save me some cash.... I have been duped before, though. I can't find any info regarding the reusable nature of the filter...and if it's not reuseble, it's not a saving. There are other posts about the D Sport...but nothing with a definitive 'yes' or 'no'. Can anyone confirm or deny before I buy?

    Many thanks.

You might want to confirm with the seller what he meant by washable. Some define washable as 'taking out the filter and blowing dirt away with air'.

Anyway, I found that there was nothing wrong with the DSport filter that I got. The sluggishness was caused by a tear in one of my pipes which caused boost to leak. Thats why It feels sluggish when i push it.

    Not washable

Many thanks, Adam. I think I'll go down the pod filter path, then.

Yep, it's the way to go. More expensive initial outlay, but pays for itself over the long term ownership.

Is the DSport filter a big improvement over a normal filter? Or is it just a "designer" product?

The eBay photo is of the correct filter for the 659 turbo engine. SG perch must have linked the wrong picture.

I'd go for the eBay one, not just because it has the correct picture. SGpetch are having a laugh for a genuine one, £69.20 plus VAT & postage!

Thanks. You'd expect for £69.20 + VAT + postage that the bleeding photo would be correct
